betto,

the 2nd scenario that you posted looks correct. make sure you are using a crossover cable as well as the null modem cable.

when it gets to the "Given up BOOTP/TFTP boot" repeating stage, hold UP and Standby on the front of the box and wait for the box to reboot. After that, it should catch onto the TFTP and work perfectly.

ok mate cheers ill give that a go , i have the correct network cable because at 1 point i could go through the box using flash fxp , the problem i think is that when i flashed the image wich was the wrong image it reset the ip ? who knows anyway ill give this ago thanks .

ok i pressed up and power to reset at this point "Given up BOOTP/TFTP boot" and it just keeps repeating alltho it seems to stop at

------ Systeminformations ------
Selected networkdevice: Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC - Packet Scheduler Miniport (0)
IP-address of the networkdevice: 192.168.0.127
IP-address which the dbox gets: 192.168.0.202
Operatingsystem: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Build 2600)

Download the Image flashing assistant, I have just put up in the dbox downloads, install that version and give that a try

boot net failed
boot: elfcopy failed: 16
That means something is blocking the network traffic on the pc side.
Firewall, antivirus software and so on.
Disable that stuff.
Its also a wrong network cable possible. Use a crossover cable.

oh i see i have a crossed net cable and i used to be able to connect to the box , maybe its because i dont know the ip to the box could that be it , i havnt set the ip on my card to the 1 on the box as i dont know it but i have set the ip on my card to automatic and it doesnt say that theres a network cable unplugged so i asume its connected like it says , ill try disable firewall

You have to set your network card to a fixed IP, 192.168.0.1 for instance. Set your network card also to 10base half duplex.
The box get a IP from IFA only for the flashing procedure.

hi again , i have tried all ur sugestions so far and im still getting the same errors as before, i have unistalled my firewall, prob not the smartest idea , still nothing it will get up to the part wherer i get
/root
this is in ifa

or something and it astops like im suposed to type something in , any ideas please guys im well stuck ! .
thanks again

On the prompt dbox2:root> type in
boot net.
If you get bootnet failed again something is blocking.
Maybe the winxp firewall or worm protection from norton or something else.

do you know what image the box has on it?
if so you may be able to get the ip
make sure all your firewalls are off when using ifa

if you are still having probs with ifa and are able to get the ip

open fxp and enter your ip address of your box user=root pass= dbox2 now in the left box you will see your pc's files and folders locate the image you want to use then on the right are the folders from your dbox open the temp folder and transfer the image into the temp

now on the remote

press dbox/service/softwareupdate/expertfunctions/writeonepartition/flashwithoutbootloader/selectimage and press ok

On a box with kein system is no os running.
There is nothing you can ftp to.

did'nt read the bit about kein system :( just read it again now......lol

ok i finnaly got it to work , thanks every1 but!. as i was doin this for a friend who lives litterally 10 mins down the road, i took this to his house and now theres no channels again ??? , any advice please?, cheers

And when you try it back at yours you get them again?
if you do, does your mate have a subbed box working
