"Scart Mode" confusion

Never really looked at scart mode before, but i'm confused. Can somebody tell me what scart mode does? Because i always thought it would allow whatever is connected to the dbox scart socket to be shown on screen.

What i'm actually trying to do is record from the scart socket to a shared folder i already got set up. I can view and record channels etc but i really want to be able to view the device connected to the scart.

I have a CCTV camera on the scart and am trying to view it on my wireless laptop.

Any idea anyone?

I always thought both scart sockets on the Dbox were output only 1 to the TV and 1 to your recorder..unless i am wrong but i don't know what the scart option in the menu is for i even looked on the sportster board but i could not find any info.

.

OK i found the problem - I had the scart plugs in the wrong way round... one to TV goes at the top and one to other device goes at the bottom (the arrows on the back of the box are confusing). I can now get a picture from the CCTV camera on the TV screen. My problem now is how to get that to stream down the network...?

Is that for the Sagem's? The Nokia that i've seen are the other way around!

Thats for a Sagem yeah.

If I try to capture the stream directly from the box to PC it still shows the channel i was previously watching, and not whats on the TV (which is the scart image).

I guess this is just not possible then? :-(

There is no possibility on the dbox to convert a analogue signal to a digital signal. You send a analogue signal to the VCR scart and the box loop through that signal to the TV scart. Thats all what the box is doing.

i have used both top and bottom for the tv what ive noticed is when i use the top one i get a better sound where as the bottom one works too but less sound

I would have thought the sound level out of the VCR scart would be fixed and the TV scart to be variable because of the volume control feature on the Dbox?

The Scart mode on the Dbox just enables a loop through the Dbox for the VCR, DVD etc to the TV and cuts the output from the Dbox.

i to had sound probs on the double scart connections... just wazzed in a pair of 20 buck pc speakers into the audio out ports on the dox. now with my tvs capability and the added speakers i have a MORE than 5.1 surround sound. Its great when the neighbours piss me off i put toon disney on for kids..... i wont be hearing them hammering late at night again he he he. all for the princley sum of 40 quid for dox and 20 quid for speakers....but i guess the deal was better when you take into account the added channels off the dox which must be part of a freebie give away or somethin lol.

on the serious side though i do reccomend users of the dox use the audio capability especially if you getting your radio stations. a question though would this help in reducing the noise or would it more than likely increase the noise through the infeed. or would it not be of any effect at all? anybody know?
