Hi all i mtrying to connect my dbox 2 to flashfxp but is not connecting anyone any ideas on where im going wrong?

keeps saying connection failed, i type in server: 192.168.0.3,username:root password:commando still getting nothing.

Double check the ip on the box. Settings/expert/communication/. Sometimes if useing a router then your ip might change if DHCP is selected on the dreambox.
Hope this helps..

thanks i found box ip connected box to pc using lan cable but still cannot get fxp to recognise box.

any help on how to connect the nokia dbox2 to my pc everytime i try to connect through flashfxp it comes up connection failed...i type in the ip of the box user as root and password as commando port 21 but still nothing....HELP please!!!

I always use a crossover cable. PC to Dbox straight through. Use flash fxp and set my network connection ip to 1 less than my Dbox. Never let me down.

are you using a crossover cable? or going through a router?

im going straight from dbox to pc with just a normal ethernet cable am i better to go through router?....sure i done it this way before and it worked ok long time ago tho!

thanks for help.

is there any settings i need to change on my pc??

Make sure that you turn off any firewall and anti virus software. There is a doc called ' the beginners guide to ftp ' out there. If you are using pc to dbox and flax fxp, this tut is really usefull

you need to use a crossover cable if you are connecting to the box directly from the pc.

Thanks fergal,....iv tried it both ways through pc and through router but flashfxp keeps saying connection failed is there anyway i can check to see if pc is registering dbox?

thanks.

As said previously pc to dbox you need to use a crossover cable
set pc nic to 10baseT_halfduplex and give it a static ip one below the boxes ip and subnet 255.255.255.0
You should get a local area connection icon showing in your systray 2 little monitors
i take it the box has a commando image on it hence you using commando as the password all other images password is dbox or dbox2

also in settings on dbox check to see if start network on boot is set to on.as i once had that problem when trying to connect with flash fxp.

first of all as fergal has stated you need to get a crossover cable (RJ45 cable) to connect to the box, an ethernet cable will not work, once you have this then set up your pc ip and dbox ip, turn off all firewalls and anti virus software set your connection speed to 10 half duplex as previously stated and you should be able to connect............cheers joe

You can check if pc is connecting to box by using the ping command.

Run

Type cmd

In cmd window type: ping 192.168.0.10 (or whatever your IP on the box is) and enter.

You should get 4 replys back from the box. If not you are not connected.

Check that the IP of box the box is set up. From remote Services/Network/ and make sure that all the data is set in this facility. Then go to restart network (in Network Tab on box).

Also make sure that your firewall is set to allow the IP of the box.

As long as your network card is set to Auto it should be ok. I have never had to set it to 10 half duplex.

hi get your ip from dbox then click on
control panel
network & internet connection
network connection
then right click your connection then select properties then internet protocol then click on use the following ip address put your dbox ip in but change the last number one below box ip for example if box ip is 192.132.164.34 you would put 192.132.164.33 in then click ok the when you open flashxp put your box ip in then the password and username you should connect to your box

Boxes are very fussy some like one image better than another. Sounds odd. If you have no poblems in connecting to your box, just try a few images and see which one seems more stable. Then stick with it!

thanks for the advice mate, think ill try a few!
