Im getting no joy whatsoever trying to connect a laptop running Windows Vista with any sort of program, tried flash fxp and IFA but neither can 'talk' to the box. Do any settings need to be changed to allow this to work? I managed to get it working with flash fxp ONCE but have tried for a few hours over and over again since that and no joy! And IFA wont even install correctly on my laptop!
I can connect using my windows XP desktop PC no probs at all, but vista seems a right pain!

What i have found best way to do it is....
Open a dos box(start button then run and type cmd)
Then type ipconfig /all to get your 192.168.**.** address of your machine. Mine is 192.168.0.10
Then on the dbox goto network turn dhcp off and enter in the ip field i put 192.168.0.30 <-- last number changed
Then in flashfxp or which ever type the dbox ip ie 192.168.0.30 then user and password normally root as user and dbox as pass port 21 then you should be able to connect :)

Hope it helps....

As far as i know there is only 1 version of IFA that works with vista !!
It works for me...

Enjoy

gota be quick the gadget show is on in a sec

in the network settings of your adaptor change the ipv4 settiings to 192.168.0.17 the subnet will input itself dont change anything in the other ip setting options not even in the ipv6

get the ip of your dbox from the settings menu it will be show on the screen

make sure your using a crossover cable normally yellow

disable any firewall and antivirus temp

install your ftp client

click quick connect or connect in the ftp client input your dbox ip the username root password dbox2

with any luck it will connect will be back in an hour

For FlahFXP, first thing u need to do is check ip adress in DBOX,
settings/network..WRITE it down.
We use 192.168.1.165 for EXAMPLE

Now goto network card properties
right click IPV4...properties
Use 192.168.1.164 (go 1 digit underneath)
Click subnet Default figures will go in.

You done now, shud connect
Flash FXP Quick connect.
ip address of DBOX
root
dbox

connect....

Good Luck

Ive tried this mate but after I have installed it, I go to open it up and get a message saying 'Image flash assistant has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution' and then I get nothing! Strange hey? Ive made sure that I have allowed it as an exeption in windows firewall, I dont know what else to do to get this working!

As for the flash fxp guys, Im going to try that too, thanks for the tips! Just very strange about IFA!

Tried that too mate to no avail!

when your changin the ip on pc what internet protocol are you putting ip onto?

make sure you only change ipv4 or summit ipv 6 should be left alone, worked fine for me

after that am puzzled mate unless you redownload ifa and try that

how we getting on mate connected yet ??? what error message are you getting limited connectivity ??? did you put your flow rate in as 10halfduplex ???this is in the advanced tab in the network properties of the connection that your configuring ???

Just as a thought which I have done for some things that dont run in Vista It is a bit long winded but you go and download Virtual PC which is free and install a win2k os on it that would solve your problem
