I've tried many images and all of them can not mount a windows share. The best of the bunch (in my opinion) is The Dons V3. I've just tried mounting a share from telnet command this fails! I then tried to create my own directory and found that the system is read only!

Is this normal or just a permissions thing? Does any one know how to make the file system read/write? The remountrw command does not work as the system is so stripped back.

Thanks.

what commands are you writing in the telnet window ?

also why in the telnet window when you can mount shares automatic from the box.

also the image your using if you know it please.

The image is The Dons V3, the mount does not work from the menu and no error messages appear. so I thought if I try the command directly on the dbox then I may see the error. The command to mount a CIFS share is as follows

mount -t cifs -o user=<your user>,password=<your password> //<Share machine’s IP>/<share> /hdd

I also have a dream box with the original image and that can mount the share no problem. Because the Linux is so cut back on the dbox it may be that the CIFS module is simply not there or a bug in the Linux kernal. It did read on the net that the 2.4 did have some sort of issue with CIFS which was rectified in a later version.
