nope i would just reflash ecu with a tune file . what year is the passat and what ecu edc15/16/17
i may have a tune file for the car i use to do alot of mapping etc but had to sell my garage due to ill health , kept all the software etc so have map files for alot of vag group cars .

I wouldn't use any self install chipping box as you say .. all they do is put extra fuel into the engine to make it feel like its making if faster...
go to a reparable ecu remapping outlet and get it done properly .. cost about the same for a 1st stage remap which wont damage your engine

been told if your in a crash and they check the chip is your insurance void any ways for trying to improve it's speed ?
most younger peeps go for the speed ? and older guys try to save a few pounds ?

...and I've been to too many boy racer funerals.
That tractor of yours is restricted to 20 mph so you can't speed anyway lol.
tractor of mine dose well at 20 mph
