Disc cover cd lable printer

I've got a Epson printer with a CD/DVD tray. You can connect a reservoir to it for better colour quality. the disc does not spin so you get a perfect print every time.

i think canon pixima mp500 cheaper and i can do the job

I use Epson R265 and two sets of ink for £7 works great.

Personally I don't like inkjet printed CD's. I find that they tend to be dull.

I used inkjet for years, back in the old days of the Epson r200 etc.. with a continiouus ink system.

I changed over to using a colour laser printer and stickyback paper labels. For 2 reasons.

1) You get a full colour shiny more professional finish.
2) You get an extra layer of protection on the most important surface of the disc.

And as laser toner is not effected by water if the disc gets wet the ink doesn't streak.

I use 2 printers at the moment, an old office HP lasterjet 4300 I got from ebay for £40, this I use to print black & white labels for my general discs. The toner costs £40 but I get around 18000 sheets (2 labels per sheet, or 36000 discs) out of a toner. I also use a Dell colour laser for better jobs and the toner costs £20 for a set of 4 colours and I get approx 1200 sheets (2400 cd's) out of a set.

With the overall costs taken into account printing coolours labels is cheaper than running an inkjet system for me, and printing black & white is a lot cheaper.

Given that I'm going through over 2000 discs per month I need to have a system thats cheap and very efficient.
