hi guys can anyone recommens any decent ir cameras ive been looking at 2 Honeywell hd73px but then just read a few bad reviews about them seemingly crap at night im also looking for a good dvr to go with them??

cheers.

ive installed some nitedevil cams , there good in low light

as for dvrs alien dvrs are not to bad, they do loss quality in live view due to most of the processing power being used for recording,

thanx trevor but that listing has been removed, what make were they??

I recently installed a couple of these for a customer, and even in very low light, the performance is excellent. Coupled up to a networked DVR by GPD networks- great piece of kits, as can be accessed via net/iPhone/Android etc., without the need for setting up port forwarding on your router.

**** = well-known auction site :)

No idea what make they are but if you G00gle " Starlight Mini Pinhole Bullet Camera " you'll see the company who supplies them about 3rd down. Camera also features a built-in menu system to adjust BLC, auto/man iris etc. etc., to favour light or dark situations as required.

@premprop51 , have you considered using cloud storage instead of a DVR, because if you were burgled they could take the DVR and all evidence is lost ?
Haven't done it myself yet but had been researching the options and cost and it did look like cloud storage for lengthly period may be restrictive unless you can build up lots of free storage offers, but short term looks possible.
I did discover a security site called Milestone XProtect that has a free cloud storage offer that may be workable but I need to investigate it a bit more and then get myself an outdoor infra red camera with tilt and pan.

I got a cctv system a few months ago,but after a few months it stopped logging in through my iPhone and then through my pc, not sure what make the dvr is but it came using xmeye (which was never that great to start with), I'm wondering if its possible to set up again using someother cctv programme or will I need to get a new dvr?

Probably an issue with the router and the ports If the cctv is working in every other way. I have had this a few times. For some reason even though everything was set right with my tplink router I could not access either of my cameras outside the network. I reset the Mac binding and everything worked properly. It didn't make sense because all my devices were set to static ip anyway and had the ip that they were bound to. Hope it's something easy for you mate , good luck
