So I was fishing last Sunday and my van was parked up. When I came back to the van at the end of the day I noticed that there was a massive dent in the passengers wing. So I looked on my dash cam footage to see who had hit me and sure enough I have the whole thing on video including the bloke and his registration number. Now the car that hit my van was a company car so I am going to call them up and give them the benefit of the doubt and see if I can get them to pay for the damage. As the van is only 5 months old I will take it back to the dealer and get them and only them to fix it as its still under warranty.
What should I do and know before approaching the guy to whit my van, what are my rights?

you got the evidence company may try to throw in dunno who was driving @ time but thats only negative point
pc plod if need be

contact insurance and plod as its an offence to not report an accident

Lucky you have friends in high places so you wont have any probs.

Well we have done some talking and it turns out that my mate has friends in very high places and we have forwarded the original email on to him. He has said that he knows where the email was sent from from what ISP was used, he even now knows the card used to pay the bill for the internet supply and he has gone so far as to tell us what the person in questions last card transactions are. Needless to say the bloke that send the email/trolled him/us is well and truly screwed.
Every dog has its day ;)

no need for the moral high ground just sort it lol
maybe explains junior status

called the firm and they have said they know who it was. The bloke called me and said that I need to get a quote and let him know how much. So I cant be fairer than that. If he try's to wiggle like a worm on a hook Ill go all out with the CCTV evidence and take it further to the police.

as said no need for the big halo an easy sort ffs

Jeez theres a lot of testosterone flying about in this thread lol.
Chill out guys ;)

Im just using the forum as intended but you get keyboard warriors like manic01 who take a break from knocking one out from Anime to try and troll me. Shocking, bold as brass online but would not say boo to a goose in real life.

Just stick him on ignore and forget about the insults both ways. Keeps us all happy. Nobody wants to be reading this playground shite tbh. :(

I would defo notify your Insurance company. You have the proof. Had this problem myself, It ended in arguments about the repair costs with the 3rd party.

When I finally went to my insurance company they were very awkward about the time gap.

Just an update I showed the footage to the bloke who then said ok maybe I did hit the van. He said that he never wanted to go through the insurance company and to get a private quote so I did. £736 later for a new panel and its as good as new. So its worth investing in a good dash cam. Mine has now paid for its self.
