We had one of our brand new Citroen Berlingo Vans (2015) stolen about 3 weeks ago...

What made me laugh is one of the reasons why I leased the Citroen Berlingo vans in the first place is that they come with AWARD wining GPS tracking and monitoring for 3 years security system, supposedly the best bloody immobilisers on the market????? (and they are really cheap lol)

I phoned up teletrac the people that track the van they said the last time the tracker came online was 1am that night... I have phoned them loads of times and nothing.

Whoever gave them this award winning security award (lol) needs to probably give out awards for something else!!!

So overnight someone managed to get into the van, disable the immobiliser, turn off the tracker, without a key.

I know there is allot of Tech Savvy people about, but really that easy. So don't buy or lease a New 2015 Citroen Berlingo Van!!!!

So I wanted to know as we hired 3 of these vans lol... (I know every morning I wake up asking the lads if the fecking vans are still there!!!!)

1) How did they do it???
2) Should we fit these DIY GPS trackers and get a £5 a month Sim... are they any good???
3) I bought 2 of those £99 DISKLOCS Thatchem 3 things (the ones that fit the whole steering wheel and spin when you turn so do not turn the wheel), are these any good - I heard a pro can get them off in 3 minutes but that is the best on the market???
4) Should we also fit an alarm? if yes which one would someone recommend?

Fecking thieving van stealing bastards, I do not think I could take another van getting stolen and my insurance premium certainly cannot!!!!

And I just got the fecking thing sign written!!!!

wrap it in tinfoil lol
no idea mate these days nowt save
best method wire it to the mains supply so if anyone tries it they get nasty shock or worse
very effective i did it after a few break ins years ago but plod will inform you its illegal if any harm done you get the hassle not the thieves as always this country takes the low life by the hand the rest pay

I have a theory it might of been either the lease providers staff or the tracker peoples staff, that are selling the locations to the professional thieves!

2 of the vans are never parked over night at the office - also the address all the vans are registered too.

The one van that is parked there gets stolen without a trace...

Maybe paranoia on my behalf but made me think!

Anyway its gone, I just want to secure the other ones as best as possible!

its super hard to crack immobilizer codes and then have a key that fits too , something doesnt ring right here , the big boys can do it but they wouldnt take a van if you know how to do this m8 , jags bmws and merc yes

Really, what would you think happened mate... I checked the TRACE website to see if it was towed away and the council they do not have the van.

also why would the tracking people say it came online at 1am and never came online since?

Thanks for the input

Mick

you maybe gave the answer the elite always get it maybe a market for the working mans van is in demand
which wouldnt surprise me these days especially in heavily taxed UK

not sure how the trackers powered , but l know citroen use a chip in the key and theres no way to clone it without agent software and that needs to be online too , locksmiths can get the codes but at a price and only from registered places , then theres still the key to sort and you would need lock details for that ,
braking ignition locks isnt easy now as you break the immobilizer ring so even harder as a chipped key wouldnt work then

how many keys did the lease company ive you ?

They gave us 2 keys and we have 2 keys mate!

Mick

so the lease company have kept one then . new cars/vans is 2 remote keys and one standard

Oh my, I did not know that mate!

So could someone clone the key or something from the lease company?

Mick

would be easy just to give the key to someone if your up to know good , had a customer lose a boxer afew years back , he couldnt work out how it happened as he had the keys until the police told him afew in the area were stolen and they used a breakdown truck

Cheers @smirnoff_rules,

While I have you lol (car expert :))

I bought 2 x DISKLOCS £99 each silver big things that cover the whole wheel... are these anygood?

Also are the Cheap £50 Trackers any good ?

And lastly should I fit an alarm in the others and what one would you recommend that would work with the keys so we do not need more fobs :)

Cheers matey!!!

Mick

any visible deterrent is good m8

and a few stickers vehicle tracking stickers | eBay

as for the alarm u will not get a better one thats on the van already

Cheers mate.

What I was thinking about the extra GPS tracker is an expert would look to remove the built in one but would not think we had a backup - because we have one built in???

Good thinking or not really?

Mick

l would phone the agent and ask if theres a know problem with these van being stolen and ask if the gps is even removable , it might be built into the bsi(main control box)you van might be in a garage or container or just have the battery removed '

not sure if the gps they have in this van are factory fitted or not ?

Cheers mate I will call them to find out...

I just bought the trackers anyway from eBay... So will get them hidden when they arrive.

Now to find a text only sim lol

U might want to rig up a separate ups for the new trackers just incase

Also all they would need to do is pick the lock to open and put ignition on then tape a transponder chip next to barrel and hook up a machine to Obd socket to programme transponder and drive it away

I would invert the + and - on the Obd socket so if they do try and use that method it will kill there machine [emoji48]

And make a adapter for ur self so when car goes in garage for service u don't kill there machine lol
