Hi,
My focus is really poor at taking off nearly dangerous on cutting across lanes in first gear and would conk out.also sometimes there is a slight pullback on throttle when driving around 50,60 mph.changed fuel filter but no improvement. Is 07 focus 1.8tdci.
Cheers

I would take it to a garage before you get yourself killed mate :)

no management light and no noisy air leaks but yeah think its time for the garage.
cheers

No mate, garage had a look no codes say everything fine and that they are a bit sluggish when moving off anyway.

I have a 1.8 tdci 04 and have had the same issue but it was intermittent . I believe it's something I do with the turbo as the car doesn't really go on long runs literally 3 miles Monday to Friday and sometimes nothing on a weekend. When it has happened before to me I have just given the car a bit of a blast on the motorway for as long as I could and it seems to fix the issue. Hope it's something similar for you mate. Also we did have a refurb turbo fitted which was £570 but that was because the old one blew up and that when that happened there was very little power in the car to the point it was undrivable. Good luck mate hope it isn't too costly for you.

Was thinking it was maybe the Egr valve rather than the turbo but it's very hard to get near it on my engine it's actually behind the turbo. But as you say when you open it up on the motorway it blows out all the deposits in the Egr and dpf which I have done without any improvement.just wondering now could it be an injector on its way out, but again doesn't explain the poor response taking off in first gear.Doing my head in,lol
Cheers

Good luck with it mate I'm no mechanic I was just letting you know what I have found with my vehicle .

A lot of these focuses have been designed to run sluggish from start off to protect the flywheel it is a common fault on this vehicle that has never been rectified.

Has anyone here done this at any point, I have been looking around and have read a couple of horror stories ?

Not done anything on a Ford, had a play around with OP-COM (Vauxhall Tech 2) but that was more of releasing secret menus to change lighting setting, alarm setting and odds and sods but nothing on the Engine Management side yet.

Software update, def sounds feasible mite try some of the guys that do the re-mapping they would surely have the latest flash for my model engine. You would think Ford would do it for free since it's a glitch on their part, lol.

Not when there's money to be made for next to no effort or work, and I don't just mean Ford !
