Does anybody have a car that has the stop start function?
I have just purchased a brand new c4 Picasso with this function and it didn't work I was told to take it for a long run,
I drove to Liverpool the next day and after about 120 miles it was working ok even with the heater fan running well now it will only
work if the heater fan is not on and an told by the Dealership that that is normal well ive told them bollox its not how it should be
it should work ( I can understand if your sat in traffic for a long time with the fan or AC on that it would drain the battery and then not work),
I phoned Citreon UK about 10 days ago and was told it should work with the heater fan on and was waiting on a call back well that never happened,
I rang them back today and again waiting on a call back well they did phone back and told me that my dealership would ring me which they did
but they are still trying to tell me that it wont work with the heater fan running.

Am I right in that it should work ?? or am I just being a complete idiot like they are trying to make me out to be by telling me to bring it in and
a technition will explain to me how it works.

Probably different criteria for different models but mine's is something like; fully charged battery, outside temp above 7deg, heater fan not on etc. That's what it says in the manual anyway (check yours?) but in reality mine works with the fan on.
Probably my reply ain't helped much as it's contradictory but that's the way mine is, sorry.

Thanks m8ty have you got a C4 ?

Do you really want stop start technology in Liverpool mate?. Hmm leave it well alone the acceleration could come in handy. ;)

ive got it on my van and it works all the time, heater on, radio on, wipers on....everything that can be on really.
id think once the engine had warmed up it wouldn't matter what the temp was.

you might need a new battery

@dazling - picking up my new C4 Picasso on Mar 1st, getting the 'exclusive+' variant. Other than the start/stop, what do you think of it?

hi, ive got 2012 ford focus and mine works all the time, usually takes 10 minutes to first work and then works all the time after that whether ive got heater on, radio etc etc on, must be different on all cars,

i driven a few fords with it and as mentioned it does require the engine to reach a certain temp, outside temp to be above a certain amount and battery to be above a certain level. But even in winter with the heating on, lights, wipers, radio, etc it should have started working after 10 to 15 minutes.

Is the car new ? Might be alternator or battery ?

The car itself drives really well I have just the exclusive not the + the satnav works well but is a pain as you cannot input postcodes it has to be the address or believe it or not
longitude and latitude although not tried that yet. The drivers seat is comfortable drove to Liverpool 230miles and didn't ache at all when getting out, The rear Camera is really good although takes a bit of getting used too, The rear seats are good were they can be adjusted back and forth to allow more room in the boot if needed, the media centre is excellent works really well when you get to know how it works and can be operated from the steering wheel as well , The Bluetooth again is excellent weather its streaming music from your phone or your taking a call on your phone its very clear, I do have a couple of gripes the Parcel shelf doesn't rest on the back seats so stuff can fall of it into the boot not major but could be a pain and the worst bit the rear seats are a pain to fold flat there is no lever in boot area like most other cars that I have had with the folding seats there is a pull cord on the seats that you have to pull quite hard and fast for the seats to fold there is also a lever that you can pull up but I have not found out what that is for yet lol also people have trouble finding were the seatbelt catch is because its a couple of inches further forward than normal, if you want to know anything specific m8ty just ask and ill answer your ? if I can.

PS I was told by my Dealer that the key needed to be inserted into the slot I argued that why have a keyless entry and you have to then get the key out your pocket or bag to drive the car? and was told that's how they work, well they don't it will work with the key in your pocket because I have never used the key lol

The car is Brand new Oneman its now done just over 1k my guess is that the battery has a dead cell or 2 in it but its trying to convince the dealership that lol

LMFAO im I don't live in Liverpool miggy so im safe anyway the doors lock themselves so I would have time for the engine to start up and put my foot down if the need to
do so

Must go through some starter moters using that system the things the bring out what next wheels off the floor while in park

The system only works on a warmed up engine so starter motor wear is not excessive. Some manufactures are looking at using a combustion based system which would not require starter motor to restart.

As for its value, if you are in heavy traffic it make a noticeable difference to fuel economy with virtually no difference to driving style or experience.

If it's like my motor you can turn it off if that's your preference. Still get cheaper car tax even if you switch it off
