Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has taken out a used car warranty , I bought a car last weekend Spent £7k on a Focus Titanium from my local dealer, the dealer keeps banging on about taking out a used car warranty with Ford for the car , £369 for 3 years it costs, which I think is a bit excessive. I'm already getting 3 months warranty and that's it. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy the warranty from.

Thanks guys

Don't bother, most of these are not worth the paper they are written on and you will find it will be money down the drain. Most of the things that do go wrong are not covered.

If you want a warranty it's cheaper to go somewhere other than the place you buy the car.

If you want to know whether to buy one - toss a coin, it's the most effective decision-maker!

As Exos says - they're usually not worth it...

the aa do a great deal at about £20 a month for cars with less than 100k on the clock a little more if higher than that
this covers the first £500 of any breakdown but does exclude tires and brakes as these are serviceable items
this also gives you the top level breakdown cover
as long as the car is serviced at any vat regged garage. my fan belt went a couple a months ago and the aa took to halfords for me.
yes not my first choice of places to get the car sorted but let it go as was a sunday. myself and the aa guy had checked the alternator and it was turning fine
but had a little bit of belt jammes between the housing and pulley.call for halfords the next day saying car needs new tensioner and alternator plus the belts and labour
the guys face fell when i went to see him and told him was aa warrenty job. so car got the works and cost me £25

like someone has said its a load of shit mate , even the three months you gt they ll try and get out of it . only major componants are covered

Same advise, don't bother. There are too many exclusions.

I looked at the AA thing and I think it only covers items that need repairing following a breakdown handled by the AA. So for example if you car failed its MOT then those items would not be included ?

ye it only covers items that cause breakdown and i dont think any warrenty would cover thinks like mot failure.its more for the peice of mind i pay the aa one
means as long as i maintain the car to a level then most repairs that are unexpected are covered and i get hire car while mine is of the road
and the job done to my car was a £400-500 repair as the parts alone are about £250+

AVOID!!! - I had warranty direct and warranty wise and lost money on both.
I had done plenty of research before getting them and if its a small issue worth less than the actual cost of the warranty you may or may not get them to fork out for the claim, however when it comes to big problems (regardless if they say they cover it or not), they will try every trick in the book to get out of it.
Luckily for me, I got a full refund from WW but it took weeks to argue with the owner of the company!

Stick some cash in the bank for a rainy day.

Anything other than a new car warranty is money down the drain.
