My wife has informed me that one of her rear car doors stopped working last week from the outside and the central locking and would only open from the inside handle. She ended by telling me that my youngest has just set the child lock on that door today, so now the door will not open from any side.

Does anyone know how I could get could get the door open or even how to remove the door card to find out what is wrong.

It's going to be tough to get the door card off with the door closed, worst case you might have to damage the card and maybe even have to replace it?

Get in the drivers side climb in the back and then remove the rear seat. After that you should just be able to get the door card off. Then inside look at the lock mechanism you should be able to put a small flat object in the mechanism and release the lock. Good luck

I thought this could be the case, I am off next week I hope the scrap yard will sell one door panel.

I take it the locked door will fail a MOT?

Yes mate it would fail they would need to test for sill corrosion and structure damage and also they need to check the rear seatbelts. Good luck with it next week steve and keep us posted.

I have spent the past hour trying to get the door card off and trying to remove the back seat to no avail, but in a bought of inspiration I tried the inside handle again and it seemed to be a bit sticky I used a screw driver as a leaved and the door popper open. Door card off, child lock off but now I am left with the original problem. The out side door handle will open the door.

I take it there is a leaver, catch that should activate the lock, any ideas? I am still looking for a drawing of the handle.

Thanks I found that tonight as well, and the bit that he talks about at the 4min mark is exactly the part that has failed. I will need to price the part or see if I can fix it tomorrow.

Well happy to report that I finished the door. I ended up ordering a new handle from Honda and a plastic clip I broken taking the door apart. Got the job done for £40 without damaging the door card, thankfully.

I was going to get the parts from a scrap yard but the new parts were cheaper than I expected and I was fighting against weather (bad) effort to get the parts and as the part broken seem to be common faults would the scrap parts be any better or last.

Glad to here you got sorted steve. Best to get new if you can afford them mate no point in saving pennies buying second hand parts that wont last. Result mate.
