Hey everyone the girlfriend has an 02 fiesta and its failed its mot needs about £1000 to get it fixed. What the best option for her scraping it will get £150, i have no clue about cars so selling bits at a time isnt an option.

any suggestions would be great

£1000 to fix, what's wrong with it ?

window shoosher doesnt work, excesive rust at both back wheel arch causing a sharp edge, bushes need replaced. something else possibly a bearing or two - it said something was causing excessive movement. think that was about it.

Sounds like a lot for that work. You could try taking it elsewhere for MOT and getting a quote.

all depends on the welding but
a jimmy shand for an 02 fiesta ffs the parts are pennies for these now
get a second opinion and go from there mate
its either rusted to death or its just a rip off worth a second opinion either way

u didnt take it to kwik fit by any chance???

£1000 for that is a rip off

parts ur looking at around £250 max

labour around £200 (depening on who u know)

Excessive movement/play might be front suspension ball joint. That work should cost nowhere near 1000.
Definitely get some other garages to have a look and provide quotes, obviously dont tell them you've been quoted 1k.

sorry i should have said i have a garage i usually use but in work we now get discounts on loads of things one being an mot for £30. So got it from they guy at work he said £1000 i thought he was ripping us off so explained it the the guys at the garage stating we used it for convenience as it all gets done while you work. ~They saaid they would run it through but if what the first guy had said was correct then they wouldnt charge. The 2nd opinion said the work does need to be done.

She put it on gumtree last night for £500, it has £30 worth of petrol in it which is a sickener, the 4 alloys are worth 100ish, it has 6 months tax, 2 brand new tyres. i think this was a fair price, she has had a few offers of £350 what do you think it would realistically be worth

unfort at this moment in time everything is worth as much as someone will pay for it :-(

she put it on gumtree listed all fails on the mot and someone bought it today for £400, she is gutted to loose the car as it was her first one but its a starter for the next one
