Hello,

I have an issue with my mondeo 2001 plate, engine management light comes on first time was months ago so dropped the battery and it went away for a couple months... any way it came back on again so did same lasted 4 or 5 weeks and back on.

No idea what it could be levels are all good etc.

any one recommend an obd reader for it I have a mac or android for software if you could also point me at that direction too please.

Or better still if there is any one near Wigan that does readings etc please let me know...

Cheers.

I have a 2004 mk3 and whilst driving sometime the light flashes and stops, had it checked and no faults were detected.

Ive got a 2002 one, and light comes on some times and goes back out after a few drive cycles... all I found on my one was egr valve was sticking... so that was putting it on... although yours could be anything mate.

tbh it could loads of things tbh i take it no misfire or anything like that?

Really need obd reader and clear codes and then drive a few miles and see what shows up.:proud:

but which obd reader do I get ;) and what software for my macbook or android phone :)

ta

Wouldnt waste your time on obd reader, it flashed up atleast 5 times on my car and I took to my mate at ford and said no error or fault had even been logged.

If anything take it to independent garage. Unless it comes on and stays on I wouldnt worry about it. Just mention the next time you get your car serviced.

Well not all cars can keep the obd fault codes, some simpy reset on battery removal etc etc.

But if you had a obd reader and didnt turn of the car and pluged it in then it would show what fault code/s there is.

I dont know of any software that can run on a mac tbh i have used main dealer equipment or snap-on /auto diagnose.

I need to find some software for both my mum and brothers cars but fords but alarms issues.

A cheapt obd stand alone might work but never tried but dont see why not tho.

been having a read round and it could possibly be the EGR valve carboned up so over easter I will clean it and see what happens :)

Thats what is wrong with mine mate :) common problem that puts light on an off.

is yours petrol or diesel? mine is the 1.8 duratec...

I have web links for how toos etc

2.0 duratec petrol mate.

yea read the how too's ... pretty much strip it down, clean with parafin I think or white spirits... and put back on with a new gasket.

curious if you do short journeys or use wrong grade of oil.:proud:

Short journeys yes, and oil no i get it from Ford... never thought about the gasket but will get one or two just to be on safe side :)

short journeys bung up systems on a number of cars i notice, a good run will clear the cobwebs out and adding a fuel cleaner to fuel every now and again will keep it clean, opels are well known for egr problems lol:proud:

I tend to use high octane fuel hoping it will keep engine nice and clean I will be servicing it next weekend all being well, one other thing is it worth getting a k&n Panel filter for it £33

about 4 air filters worth i guess?
