hiya,
im trying to help a friend with his citroen synergie, its r reg, 2 litre petrol, his enigine management keeps coimg off then it will go off for abit but its on more often than its on, whats happening is sometimes when hes going 40 50 mph and he lets off the accelorator the car will kangaroo, but then when he puts his foot down it goes as normal,
he tried buying an elm 327 lead as a mechanic told him it would work but ive tried today and i couldnt get it to connect to the citroen at all, it connected to my vauxhall astra 2003 model so the lead is not broken, it does say on the elm lead 2001 onwards for petrol,
i was having a look around online today and found this

[ame=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexia-3-Peugeot-Citroen-Diagnostic-Interface-UK-STOCK-/120706551597?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item1c1aabcf2d]Lexia 3, Peugeot Citroen Diagnostic Interface UK STOCK on eBay (end time 09-Apr-11 18:53:44 BST)[/ame]

i think its abit like my opcom lead i bought for my vauxhall, clone version of a dealership setup, does anybody know if this would work on the above citroen synergie, i would hate to tell my mate it would work and it not, its a quite abit of money, but if it works it could save him money in the long run, can anybody help as im not really clued up on things like this ? thanks alot

elm is designed for eobd protocol so if its below 2001 petrol and pre 2004 derv it wont or has a very good chance of not working
there are very litle obd type scantools for citroen till you start getting into some decent price ranges ime afraid
not familiar with the protocol on a cit of this era but do you know anyone with peugeot planet /lexia ?
or a multi scaner such as launch carman ect that might be a better answer

i tried alsorts of softweare for the elm lead, i couldnt get it to connect for him, we dont know anyone with the leads or software to do it, tried a hand held computer today aswell, was only a cheap one and that also said 2001 onwards for petrol so dint think it would work, my mate ordered that lead/software from the ebay link tonight, hes cars getting quite old now so he really thought it was worth getting it as will probably save him money in the long run, thanks for replys

Did he buy a genuine elmscan tool or one of the chinese knockoffs?
PSA cars are very picky, I know with my old 2000 Pug 406 HDi, a chinese knockoff elm327 wouldn't work with it at all, whereas a elmscan iso (elm323) serial tool and a elmscan5 (elm327 based) worked.

it was a 15 pound elm 327 lead from ebay so would imagine its a chinese knock off, i tried it on my vauxhall astra 2003 and it does quite alot with this software, its a pretty good lead for 15 quid, obviously no good for him though, i think the one hes bought will be good for him, hopefully anyway, thanks

hi, well my mates citroen lead came other day and today we got round to using it, installed that lexia 45 i think it was called onto his laptop, plugged this new lead into his citroen, clicked on the read fault codes and it came back with 2,
perminant fault = mixture adjustment
intermitent fault = speed sensor dial ( i think them were the words)

so i reset the fault codes and my friend took it for a little drive, should of said at the beginning the engine management light was on, after i reset the fault codes the light went out, friend took it for a drive off about a mile and a half and by the time he got back the light had come back on, he said as soon as the light came back on the problem came back, so re-read the fault codes and this time there was just the perminant fault = mixture adjustment, we think the other fault is the speedo on his car, he says it works but sometimes it doesnt work, so think the main problem is this mixture adjustment, anyone got any ideas what this means ? what is needed to be done ? thanks
