Guess the bit that fell of my car

Hi everyone,

The wife has a Corsa 04 1.2 Design and as she was driving back from the shops something made a noise like it was in the engine compartment then hit the road. She stopped and picked it up.

I have my ideas as to what it is but will need a second opinion as im not all that when it comes to vehicles

Snapped suspension spring mate, coil spring Front id guess as sounded like engine compartment.



Pretty certain its what I have put above bud, if your local to me (London/Essex) will fit new ones for ya if ya want for nothing - just provide parts

2 things you can do take it to a garage and will cost you a fortune, or you could try and fix it your self, tricky but possible, also i would change both or one will be stronger than other.

Thanks Everyone for the answers (so quickly too!) Ill take it to the garage tomorrow and see if they can sort it. Im expecting to pay £40 parts and the same again for labor - do you think that is about right?

i had the same problem but with megune , the wife had snapping or bangging sound when turning for a few days and then she was picking her left coil up off the road

yes its a front spring, a very common fault on corsa's and i do mean very common.

My missus came back with a bit that looked similar (how come it always seems to be the mrs driving when these things happen?) it turned out to be the rear spring (Zafira) i bought 2 and it was dead easy to put them in,i think the corsa has the same rear system...............actually thinking about it she was driving my old focus when the front suspension spring snapped as well...........women eh????:Cool2:

i had the same problem with a broken front spring snap on a mk3 mondeo while i was doing umm about 60ish while over taking someone, it put the frighteners into me i can tell you. like has been said it is comon these days unfortunately.
i think you will be looking a bit more money than you think. if it was me i would have both front springs changed. i had all mine changed cos i wanted it lowered by 20mm with eibach springs so it was a good excuse to get it done.
i pitty the fella that was following me or should i say was along side me, but thank god it was the drivers side that let loose.

great offer there too to repair it too, top man rs2k. aint us bikers are so kind hearted.

Got the garage to sort it for £104 inc vat, they only did the one side though - I did ask for both (they never listen) but for now ill leave it as ive got loads to shell out on next month

The problem is lots of cars have so many faults, i remember a renault come in to work for mot, a day later it come back with broken front spring and straight in his new fron tyre lol

tbh he wasnt to pleased but took it ok,

Iv got loads of stories but if i told them all i dont think anyone would buy a car anymore lmao.

Oh and never replace one spring !!:thumbdown:
