hi all, was thinking of tryin bio-diesel as there's a fillin station few mile from where I work. I have a mk2 2002 laguna 1.9dci just lookin for some pointers if anyboby use's it etc really, I've read that I'll have to change my fuel filter after the first time cos of the crap it piks up in the tank and that it's cleaner for the car plus it's 44p cheaper a ltr by me then normal diesel.

thanks u.s

I have a friend that make his own, he bought a kit off the net a few years ago for £600, and he gets used oil. He reckons with the chemicals, electricity, filters and such he can make it for around 35p per litr.

He drives an old 5.4l Land Cruiser and says it runs a treat. He's done nothing to the car at all.

my neighbour been using it without any mods to car and swears by it an says theres no difference in power, he drives a citreon on a 06 registration, only thing is when he goes past it smells of sausage suppers most days but not enough to put you off using it, apart from the munchies

I've run it in my Alfa 2.4,runs great and it even makes the engine run a little less 'harsh' than normal diesel

Manufacturers, tell you not to use it, probably in with the fuel companies, I have been thinking about it, but, some say it clogs up, others say no problem. Would not mind making it myself, but not for a £600 kit, all you need is some filters, and old oil drums, a couple of taps etc. well not that simple but.

spoke to my neighbour today he usually puts 10 litres of diesel from garage and 30 litres of bio from someone he knows who owns a chippy, he bought a kit of the net and makes his own with used veg oil from the fryers, been using it for over a year and changes his oil filter every 6 months as a precaution he pays 80p a litre

Do you mean the fuel filter every 6 months m8 ?

well tbh there is bio diesel in your normal diesel from the pump they mix it now and they dont have to tell you if it below 10% bio, so i believe, just to let you know if you didnt know already :)

been thinking about this myself, atm got a 54 partner van 1.9d do you think it will run ok? plus can i fill up with derv if i need to at any point?
