hi guys, i got a opcom vuaxhall lead and diagnostic software for my vauxhall astra 1.8 sri 2003, il tell you my cars symtoms and then write codes up
when i start my car from cold the tick over is all over, nearly cutting out and sometimes revs up to 1500rpm. if i try to press the accelerator it tried to cut out, when the car gets abit warming when on idle its still all over the place but i can press accelerator fine, then when i drive the car its kanagrooing and wont go over 50mph but sometimes like earlier tonight i **** get above 20 mph,
so i read the errors codes which will of been stored up for abit and got the following

Total number of fault codes: 7

P0170 - Lean Exhaust
(02) - Not present

P1555 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load
(00) - Not present

P0135 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Open (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
(04) - Not present

P0110 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
(01) - Not present

P0100 - Mass Or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
(02) - Not present

P1525 - Limp Home Position Error
(00) - Not present

P1550 - Electronic Throttle Control Engine Stop
(08) - Not present

after reading these thats when i went for the drive where i couldnt get over 20mph after about half a mile of drive, when i got back i read codes again and got the following

Total number of fault codes: 9

P0170 - Lean Exhaust
(02) - Not present

P1555 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load
(00) - Not present

P0135 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Open (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
(04) - Not present

P0110 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
(01) - Not present

P0100 - Mass Or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
(02) - Not present

P1525 - Limp Home Position Error
(00) - Not present

P1550 - Electronic Throttle Control Engine Stop
(08) - Not present

P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
(01) - Not present

P0301 - <Unknown DTC>
(04) - Not present

i then reset the codes and went round the block and seemed ok, went for abit longer drive and the symptoms came back this time it wasnt the engine management light on it was the little car with a spanner light, so read the codes
P1555 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load
(00) - Not present

then after 10 minutes of idleing and reving up etc i read codes one more time and got the same code p1555

so not sure whats happening to my car and wondered if anyone on here could help ?
read on another forunm it might be a good idem to use my opcom software to reset the ecu, not just clear fault codes but theres a button to reset ecu but im not sure if thats ok to do,
cam amyomen help with this problem ? thanks

Do not know a lot about vauxhalls tbh, but I would say check the connections on the throttle position sensor... if still iffy, change it.

Seems that the ecu is not reading the throttle position, which is throwing up the other errors with fuelling, misfire etc ....

could be wrong but makes sense to me :)

Try disconnecting the mass air flow meter and see if it runs any better mate.
If it does get a new one

yeah sounds reasonnable to me what you have just said aswell mate, thanks for that, il give it a check,

Check the air intake pipe from the maf to the throttle body for any leaks before changing the sensor.

just unplugged the mass air flow and went on a half mile journey and it drove flawlessly, just how it used to, so in morning il give it another check but it dint kangaroo or anything once when i just went round the block then,

When i saw those error codes i thought it was that.
Clear the codes fit a new maf take it for a run and then rescan it.

thanks mate its been doing my head in just hope this sorts it, ive seen some maf on ebay but i thought i read somewhere u need to get one form vauxhall really, i could be wrong ive done that much reading lately, would ebay be ok or do i really need one form vauxhall

found out some prices today, the ones that a real so to sdpeak are 100 pounds, the ones of ebay are apparently clones, so im not really sure what to do, a big difference in price but is it worth getting the proper one ? i had mine off today as someone said to try spraying it with contact cleaner so ive tried that but hasnt made a bit of difference, runs terrible with maf plugged in but when its not plugged in its great, how it should be, any advice of which part to go for ? thanks

What's the price difference? If it's lots cheaper then give it a go. You've already proved than an original part is not infallible.

ive seen them on ebay for just over 30 quid delivered, think its 13.50 or sumthing, the proper vauxhall ones are 100 quid but there will be delivery on top of that, so looking at a 70 pound difference,

hiya, firstly just like to say thank you to the people in this thread for helping me,
also im just updating whats happened for others with simular problem, i went for a geniuine mass air flow sensor in the end, i paid 100 quid for it, replaced it yesterday, done about 40 or so miles and the car has been running sweet, just how it should be, as soon as i put the sensor on, all problems had gone,
again thanks everyone
