Hi, Mrs has an intermittent fault with her car.

the engine management light comes on and dash says engine fault and car runs like a dog, but the next time you start up it will be ok but the engine light will be on with error on dash.

our local independent garage had a look last May and put it on diagnostic machine and said it indicated a temperature sensor (but not which one) also some codes that are manufacturer specific that he couldn't read..anyway all was good and he said run it and come back when it comes back and hopefully it will give us more info.

well it went wrong just before Christmas, dropped it down there and it gave same info :-( guy at garage said you will have to take it to Citroen (aaarrgggh) robin tw@ts because of these specific codes he cant read.

i don't doubt the guy at our garage that i will have to bite the bullet and take it to Citroen next time it goes wrong anybody have any idea what the cost will be ? and how do they get away with having diags that are not documented ?

Had exaxtly the same problem with our old 52 plate 1.6 Picasso.
In the end took it the main dealer, who told me it needed a new rad/fan etc at £220.
Told them to FO.
Turned out to be a Temp sensor switch in the Rad , that cost about £35 to fix.

Changed it myself then tore a strip off the main dealer !

Yours might be the same, but the main dealer will need to clear the fault code after the repair.

I got this done for free after trying to rip my wife off, just need to Make enough fuss and threaten to expose them in the papers.

I sold the car in the end, Alive with tech that wil go wrong because its French and cheaply put together!

cant be a good code reader ? anyway if l get codes l just run through google faster that running my pc software sometimes and shows the common faults better . ie autodata will tell the code but also blame wiring and so on ,, google tells u straight if the fault codes common ,,

Just coz you get the code read by the main dealer doesnt mean you have to pay them to fix it ;)

was planning on doing that, getting results and then going back to independent garage in town, i thought he was very fair, probably fairer than i would have been tbh.

read codes and clear down last May was £25 and said when it goes wrong we will have another look

read codes again in dec, sorry unable to read Citroen codes but cleared error £0 but see you in march for service....good customer relations :)

i know everyone bashes the yanks but their consumer law seems much better in the way that all data like error codes in cars has to be available for the public with no transparency.

i personally wouldn't ever buy a Citroen (apart from a sm) but a set of circumstances happened and we ended up with the car.

with all the crappy weather we had a number of cars is with engine light on re lambda probe? cat erased codes car running ok,had 5 in a week lol.
when your car was bad did it feel as if it was on 3 cylinders maybe coil multipack going

error not codified seen that a few times, its a different set of codes not known by some scanners, hence the main dealer
