Insurance advice?

Found a nice little C2 for ust under 2k 04 reg and done 46k miles with 11 months mot

As im 19 do you guys have any tips on how to bring the insurance price down lol!

get on the internet and get as many quotes as you can
once you have a few dozen quotes
pick up your phone and start to play them off each other
also if you can pay it all in the one.even if this means on CC
as the interest on the credit card will not be as much as the insurance
company want
ie i got quoted £42.47 per month for my insurance over 12 months
or full lot paid up front was £370 saving about £150 over the year
also i wouldnt spend 2k on first car get your self a wee 500 quid run about for the first year mate as the insuance will be around the 1500 to 2 k mark

agreed banger on 3rd party insurance until you get some claims unless your rolling in cash.

Keep it third party, offer to pay more excess. Put parents on your policy (not put policy under their name). Keep it off road if possible, get an approved alarm fitted.

get your mum, dad or grandad to insure it in there name, then just drive around illegally mate as that seems the only way to get anything to do with driving cheap these days.

No matter what you will probably pay £1000+ to insure it, its a legal form or rape, you have no choice but to pay it, unless you go for the cheaper option and just do it all illegally. Dont drive like an idiot, make sure its taxed and MOTd and you`ll be fine 99% of the time, ive never been pulled over once in 4 years.

all joking aside, i pay for my insurance and donot condone driving illegally. BUT , the punishment doesnt even come close to the costs involved in driving legally.

Most of the time, the only time you will be caught having it under your parents name is if you are involved in an accident. But the consequences could be high if something did happen to a third party and had a claim against you.

And stats show that young drivers tend to be involved in accidents even if its not their fault. Plus cost of those accidents seem to be more expensive.

also try get yourself a group 1 car
and try some specialist insurance companys aimed at young drivers

tesco looks best at the mo thats with my sister on, 2.6k one off payment on the C2. its 2.8k for third party, I cant get my head round it :S

dont jump in mate it takes ages i know but a day or 2 of searching
will save you about 500 quid on that quote

Also dont forget the brokers mate as they have the contacts you need to get specialist insurance.

Never used to use them but since my issues that I have mentioned around here I found that brokers are best.

But use this in the order then *oogle some brokers.

Edit: make sure you check the policy small print as well as each are different - just because you get a cheap quote does not mean the cover is the same - also see if they cover accidents against unisured drivers and make sure you have legal cover and not claims management as most insurance companies seem to be using these shite management companies instead of proper legal expensis to bring down costs and then you will find that they try to minimise each others loses as I found to my detriment. Although I am now dealing with myself as they were no good at all and wanted to close my claim many times. the first time even suggesting the accident was my fault. Rant over

put your parents on it i put my dad on mine and it went down £200 but still payed £1100 for a 04 corsa

have put my sister in she has been driving about 6 years and lives at same address. Cheapest so far is 2.2k from tesco! Sounds cheap to me, but really its not haha!!

I feel for these youngsters who want to own a car

when i passed my test my first car cost me 400 quid to insure

i was speaking to someone whos parents bought em a corsa 1.0 for their birthday and found out insurance was 1500 quid

for a personal prospective i was a lot happier and healthier when i didn't drive and felt more independent before i bought my first car

give it another 5 years and most of us will refuse to drive due to fuel costs

same here cost me £350 and that was for a audi / be lucky if i get a audi again it would cost to much on insurance and petrol.

Give aviva a ring.

I have a 2.0 capri, was 18 (now 19) when i took out the policy, 1 year no claims, parked on public road £1300 fully comp.

When i passed at 17 it was £2500 tpft with adriam flux.

Summary: try aviva and adrian flux, cheapest i found after a week of constant searching.

Yep try Aviva mate. 25% off online and 2 months free. My Boxster was £1600 renewal with privilege from £450....lol

Done all comparison sites and had it £380 with them.

I also have a van and TPF+T is cheaper the standard TP ??

Forgot to mention

seems like Aviva are the best at the moment as I ended up with them too, They also have an unisured driver promise with their policys and were about £400 cheaper than the next closest

Cheers lads however its around the £5000 mark from aviva, thats only on a 1.1 pug 206 lol
