I was at my cousins house last weekend and he has some fancy system that cost him well over a grand in his van.... anyway I was impressed with the audio and his sub it gave out some lovely sound! But the PC interface was left lacking.

But I was thinking I could create something simular with a MINI ITX that I have in my loft.

I wanted to know if anyone has done something similar, and any pointers ?

Also what would I need.

I would love to have a PC in my van with one of them touch screen jobbies that fold out of the machine ?

i got a micro pc and 9" touch screen to go in my car..

tho the pc has diesd over the years... going to get a cheap ssd laptop based system to help speed up boot times and such.

you can dine loots of touch screen dash systems to use look at the digital car forums for ideas..

altho to get the best sound out of a cra system you you need to have the ausio mixed by a seperate usint once out of the car ps as you will lose the rear/front control as well as seperate sub control

What is the PC you are using at the moment ?

I think the MINI ITX I have is a 1.3ghz (I think).

I do not know what speeds I will get but I can imagine I would just use it to browse the internet via bluetoothe connected with my phone and a Wifi USB where there are free locations ?

Would you suggest a good sound card? But because its my van there is only 2 speakers and I will buy an average sub ?

Thanks for your time

had a cappachino pc (cappuccinopc.com : cappuccino gx1 product specifications) but had to use it as a regular pc when my main machine died a while back..

now it wont boot or reconise the dvd drive so cant repair it atm..

that hever even stepped into my car .lool

shreen i have a lilput 9" vga touch sceen that i was gonna mould into the centre console..

again anothe mod i have yet to get to...

as long as the sound card out puts a good audio level you could use the aux input of a flip out touch scheen to then enhance and split the audio to the required outputs..

depends how high level audio you want

Not really worried about the audio to be honest mate would like nice sound but does not need to be anything special :)

I want to get one of the touch screens that fold out of the front of the dashboard (double in size) and that has a built in radio, dvd, cd, etc but also lets me interface my MINI PC that will be hidden in the back of the van under my safe.

Would they make a touch screen like this or will I need to do what you are intending and build a touche screen into the dash which I would not really want the hassle lol.
