hello.

My Astra is a year old now and in need of some new tyres..

The back are perfect hardly any tread missing :) the front however is a total diferent bal game.. theyre fine on both edges but in the middle the tread is nearly at the tread bar :( 1.6mm etc...

Thing is the mrs requires the move back and forth quite a few times to get out of the garden as its quite tight.. shes always dry steering :(..

Anyway im looking for replacements ... got pirellis on atm... where can i get cheap???? was thinking costco? got business membership :)

might be better going for a cheaper brand if its the middle on dry steering. You'll pick them for half the price, shop around at local private ownbed businesses.

Im gonna visit Costco tommoro.. im told theyre cheap... will look and do as advised in thread :) just want a good deal...

the reason why the tyres are bald in the middle and got tread on both sides

is that the tyres have been inflated with too much air thus creating a ballon

effect where the tyres and have more wear in the middle,,kinda like a

motorcycle tyre, keep to the correct tyre pressures m8 and ya good to go

I have been stopped by police in manchester and they checked everything and booked me for having one tyre below limit, which as I done my last MOT only 6 months ago, I asked me to send me the court summons because he offered to have fix penalty of 3 points. I did not accepted that I told him I am no expert of checking tyres....but he did not listen to my plea....be careful with your tyres.

I have changed my two tyres from a second hand tyre shop and it cost me 35 pound for both of them, and they look as new...

*anyone had experience going to court for similar reason? please give suggestions

makes me laugh.the police will do anything to get the statistics in,all police have a criteria when it comes to cars,if its half a mm over....book em

they just need to show that they are doing what they get paid for.........we are all merely pawns to them waiting to be picked

i bought mine from here in the year sometime back
http://www.blackcircles.com/
saved my self a fair bit of money
as you buy these on line
and the tyres i think are fitted free at a garage in your area , where the tyres are sent to

hope this
helps :)

They dont do the tyres for my car for some reason

205/55/R16

As for inflation.. the mrs says she had them check recently because they wernt the correct pressure... wont be leaving that up to her from now on...

I had wondered why the car wheel spun in 1st/2/3 gear i just thought it was because im heavy footed because i drive a diesel and the car in question is a petrol.. but now i know its because of the tyre pressure as it never did it a few month back... (i did know about the pressure before i posted this thread).

'Rents buy their astra tyres from National Tyre Service, but that size isn't listed on their website: www.national.co.uk. Provided you've not fitted aftermarket rims there is a reg look up and local center booking service on there too.

Check your local paper for bogof offers, and take your Tesco club card.

Just checked balckcircles site and they do have some 205/55/R16 tyres.

The Mid/Premium range tyres start from about £62.

There's a 5% Discount code available for the site too, the Code is "TRIBE". This code only works for tyres that arent on Special Offer.
