Hello guys and gals,
Looking for a bit of info.
I have a server running for family members and they all have an Skybox F3.
I have two cards that I share with them, one sly uk and one sly Ireland with setanta.
I set up two hosting domains with one being on port 12000 and the other 12005 my question is should i have them on the same port as sometimes setanta doesnt clear and same with other Sly channels? i.e ******no-ip.org 12000 and *****no-ip.org 12005

Thanks In advance

If they are both connected to the same server then only one port is needed, the servers port

Thanks for the reply.
I give each box two lines, one for uk and one for ireland but my "servers" have each a different port, 12000 and 12005

If you have two servers then yes you need two ports, but you only need one dns account if both servers are behind the same WAN address

What cams are you using on the servers and on the skybox's?

Thanks Wiz
I have them on different dns accounts so maybe thats where i am failing.
I will change them over to the single account.
Can i still have them on different port numbers i.e 12000 and 12005
Cheers mate

Confused.com (moi) doesn't understand where DNS comes into this? Servers listen on ports, clients need to know which port(s)?

Clients also need to know ip address, dns accounts help when you have a dynamic ip address ;)

Yeah, yeah, okay. So DNS gets involved but that doesn't explain the OP post. Servers listen on ports, one server can listen on many ports. The only time there's a problem surely is if you have multiple servers sat behind a single NAT address then multiple ports are required?

And if you follow the thread you will see that's exactly the situation here :)

I AM following the thread - I just read it again, TWICE. If there are two servers, they need different ports. I think we may both be misunderstanding the situation? How many servers are there on the INSIDE, on the OP network? What ports are they listening on (INSIDE). Then we could argue how to set them up on the OUTSIDE surely?

I have already said if he has two servers he needs two ports, jeez you are hard work!
