Although I have a clear horizon to the West and can reach 68.5E on the 1.2 I'm limited in places I can situate my 1.8PF. Until recently this restricted my view to about 24E but after the neighbours tree suddenly became ill it was removed, this has pushed my boundary to somewhere near 36-38E. Taking advantage of this weeks solar outage and this mornings clear sky I checked why I've not been able to lock anything from this one so far even though I can see signals on the spectrum when scanning it. As I thought most of the dish is in clear space but there's just enough of it being shadowed from another of the trees next door to block 38°E. Looks like it might be goer mid winter when the leaves have gone, the other option is to add a couple of foot to the mount to raise everything above the tree line.

PS Thanks for the new section Mick.

hi - Grafter1
only just seen the new section -- nice one:)
i have on and off success with paksat transponders mostly they are to weak to lock --
but for a few months now i,m able to receive Jalwa - music video channel on 3825 V 2799
and tonight also Rohi pk - 4098 V 3255
i,m using a 1.8 offset channel master and the linear C band l.n.b. is offset from the k/u l.n.b. by about 6 degrees .

Hi Nelson, thanks for the reports. After posting the other day I thought the idea of raising the dish was so obvious that I may as well do it so I've purchased 500mm of 3" x 5mm tube which should be here next week. I'll get the welder out and see if the extra illumination is enough to bring in either of those signals.

I have the same issue at the other end of the arc, 58W is clear but from 60° onwards next doors roof shadows the bottom of the dish. Not much out there to see on C or Ku but just in case anything pops up on 61 or 63 in the clear I'll stand a better chance of getting it.

Different subject but is the Reuters transponder still active on 17E, this used to be my weak signal test with it barely locking at the best of times but I've not seen anything from it for many months.

no problem @grafter1, I hope this section is useful and thank you very much for all your suggestions to make the satellite sections better for everyone :)

Now lol... what the is C band???

I would love to make a sticky for this section for those like me who do not know what it is :)

Thanks again.

Mick

hi again - grafter1
raising the dish may well just do the trick -- you have a nice dish there :)
you could try AJK-TV on 3785 V 2799 sometimes it gives a stronger signal here for me than" JALWA" but it seems to stop transmission around 6.00 pm.

regarding the Reuters transponder on 17E -- i,v never locked it -- and cannot see a hint of signal from it here tonight,

and for quite some time now , all i can lock on 17 E is --- CH-44 ( first service ) on 3660 L 1200

Well here's a turn up for the books Nelson, the tube should be here tomorrow so thought I'd take a couple of spectrum scans so I can compare things after raising the dish, good job I decided to Blindscan it afterwards because I locked AJK on 3785V! First signal on Paksat so I'm well chuffed, coming in at a steady 5.4dB SNR which gives me a great reference for later in the week. Must be a combination of losing the troublesome tree to the west of it and leaf shrinkage from the remaining one.

nice one -- grafter1

just had a look here this afternoon -- and AJK is showing a strong signal here -- 7.0 db --
jalwa and rohi both locking- (just) - at 5.0 d.b.

hi -
some changes here for me recently -- Jalwa 3825 V 2799 is no longer receivable here - no signal at all (maybe ceased transmission)
AJK
3785 V 2799 still ok during the day 1.00 - 5.00 pm
and two channels have re-appeared on wednesday night that i,v not seen for nearly 1 year ---
8XM and Apna news on 3960 V 7234 --- still receiving them tonight despite awfull weather
