Hi guys, just wondering if DVD shrink is still the best ripper to use or is there somthing better?

I heard that there are no longer updates availible for DVD shrink, making it more difficult to rip new movies.

i use dvd shrink quite a lot and it works no problems sometimes you need to shrink it twice but other than that no problems it is true that the guy who done stopped as he went to work with ahead the company that makes nero,

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly mate, DVDShrink sucks badly (in my and loads of others' opinions). If it's a straight DVD image you are after then use DVDDecrypter, it's fast, accurate, removes region coding and can also be used to burn image files.
If however you want to shrink a DVD9 to a DVD5 i'd suggest you use DVD Rebuilder Pro with CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder). Yes it takes AGES (anywhere between 4-9 hours depending on your system) and it's not so easy as a one-click program (except after you input the settings when it can all be done with 2 clicks). However, the results you get are often impossible to tell from the original (handy for action/cgi heavy movies) and there is a certain amount of pride to be had, knowing that the job is well done!!!

Ditto. DVD Shrink, a great noob decrypting program
(if u dont mind the slightly degraded quality).

I prefer DVD-Decrypter & DVD-2-One, for the ripping & the compressing
(keeps a higher quality level). Also handles some of the fancier protections.

If I know I dont have to 'compress' the disc then I just use Shrink,
especially if i'm just ripping out all the extras.

Thanks guys for your opinions, where can I get DVD-Decrypter from? Is it free?

Thanks for that very good link.

Have you got access to a working copy of CCE then, all the versions I've tried have failed or have had viruses/spyware.

The problem with my copy of CCE is that i got it from another forum and it has been requested that this info isn't shared...I know this sounds daft but forum rules are forum rules!
Sorry mate, but i'm sure a working version must be out there somewhere.

u want it??

pm me fella

I prefer DVD-Decrypter & DVD-2-One, used shrink for a while but as a few others say noticed the quality started to get poor

i just prefer DVD X-Copy platinum as it copys the entire disc, compresses it and burns it and doesnt use up space on your hard drive

DVD shrink still does a great job on 95% of dvd's just a couple every now and again that it cant do.

i use clonedvd 2 aswell

find very easy to use as it only requires one button to be pressed.

Just did a back up of a film for someone, DVD decypter showed up dummy files and protection key's, film size was 7.2 gig so i thought can't be asked with all this !!!! so i run dvd 2-1 streight from the dvd drive set final size to 4.3 gig and Bingo 6 vob's ! burnt back with nero burning rom film worked fine, total time 45 min's ....i forgot about this program had it for over two years just show's some of the older programs still work well
