CD & DVD burn failed

Unfortunately I'm unable to read the log at the moment (too new a user). However, I had the same problem recently with freeware/trial software. I think it was able to reach 13% before stalling on that and then telling me it failed after a minute or two.

The problem for me was that the Blu-ray drive was not compatible with burning/copying the CD/file-type. Luckily, I had a space for an extra drive and reinstalled my CD/DVD drive which allowed it to copy the CD on to the PC without a problem.

Have you attempted to rip the CD at a slower speed?
I remember reading from a particular users perspective who had ripped CDs/DVDs often that maximum speed was never best but can't remember the recommended speed (but it was typically the next "step" down in speed if I remember correctly). I would provide a link but I lost it unfortunately.

Have you tried with other software?
This probably would not make a difference but sometimes technology can be odd and what may not work in one, may work in another.

And finally, do you have a way of attempting to rip the CDs with a different drive elsewhere?
This could be another computer you own or someone who is willing to let you attempt it on their computer.
If the former two options fail but this works, it could be your drive being incompatible or something to do with the configuration of your laptop.

Yeah mate it does rip using a different drive

I'm confused @jon48 , are you trying to Rip a CD (copy the data on a CD to your computer) or Burn a CD (copy data on computer to a CD)?

Burn a cd
