BM5000s firmware 09/02/14 with 9991 menu

My BM7000s will be going to live in Spain soon and new BM5000s arrived this morning.
So will give the f/w update a go ASAP. Watch this space !

Re: BM5000s firmware 09/02/14

My new BM5000s arrived this week and overall I am quite impressed. Firstly, the price £79.99 from ebay. It does everything the BM7000s does and much more. I had a wi-fi dongle lying around from an old laptop, popped it into the front usb port and played around with the network settings, next to no time later had a 100% wi-fi connection. (So now the ethernet cable is in the PS3)
Setting up the cccam was a breeze too, I didn't bother with the config file I’d downloaded I just set it up with the remote control. It’s working great, if anything, better than the BM7000s, It’s holding onto the network so well I haven’t noticed a single channel freeze (yet).
The 1080p HD picture is so good even my Mrs. commented on it (trust me, that’s a big deal)

Next I put a couple of downloaded .avi movies onto my HDD to try the media player and that’s perfect too. I've tried it with .avi & MP4 both working great.
The 7 day EPG is a breeze to populate, simply press EPG on the RC then press the red button, takes about 30 seconds or so. (I think the EPG info comes in via the broadband connection)

A couple of things I don't like: [Porn Tube] is always there in the menu options, it’s easy enough to password protect but I’d rather it was hidden completely (like on the BM7000s), as far as I can see this isn't an option. Another problem is adding channels to your Favourites. It’s took me yonks to realise that there’s silly little icons on the bottom of the screen which you have to highlight to add the channels but there’s no way of telling which icon represents which FAV group, it’s a matter of pen & paper and trial & error, for example on my setup the ‘shopping trolly’ icon represents the Sports group (WTF!)

Overall though, I really like the BM5000s and would deffo recommend it.

Had a blade combo end of last year, has there been any new firmware updates for it since October.

Re: BM5000s firmware 09/02/14

Hi Guys,

Is this still the latest version for the 5000?

Re: BM5000s firmware 09/02/14

OK guys,

Do i need to unpack this first then add it to the blade?

Re: Blade5000 Sw march 9991 version

Thanx bobby

Do i use a RS232 cable or a USB or can i use either?

Soz mate like i said before just learning the ropes......

Re: Blade5000 Sw march 9991 version

I don't have a blade

Unzip the files

You should have two files a ".ssu" file and a "config" file, (you can open the config file using notepad, instructions are a bit further down)

Load the ".ssu" file and "config" file onto a pen drive

Menu - Setup - Update & Backup

P1010250.jpg
Image Upgrade
P1010251.jpg
Select the ".ssu" file

Wait for it to flash the new image

P1010254.jpg
The box will reboot automatically

Menu - Channel - Blade Online
P1010263.jpg
Download the channel list for your area
P1010256.jpg
P1010257.jpg
The box will reboot automatically

You should now have FTA channels

Menu - Setup - Update & Backup - Image Upgrade

This time pick the config file

P1010271.jpg
To enter a line manually press Menu - 9991

P1010261.jpg
Enter you C or N line details

P1010262.jpg
Save (Yellow Button)

Exit out of all of the menus

You will now need to reboot the box, it doesn't do it automatically
or you can use usb

thanks bees
