anyone recommend a good pc to tv video sender so i can watch my internet movies on my tv wirelessly. much appreciated in advance. jon

First tick-in-the-box is your PC graphics card needs to be able to output a signal other than the vga to the display. TV-Out is usually the term used.
It'll have a yellow phono on the back or a S-Connector or sometimes an earphone type jack.

If you just want to beam it out in the clear, any video sender pair will do it I use a load of Technika units. These cover about 1-300 yards. They send video and stereo audio. They also have an IRDa channel with ir beads to allow you to use the stb remote control in any room.

The downsides are
A) They operate on the same frequencies as WiFi, Wireless devices such as doorbells and CCTV cameras etc etc so you are at the mercy of bandwidth crowding and external interference.

B) They transmit in the clear, so do not be surprised if the neighbours kids end up watching the adult work-out channels coming from your house.

hi wobbly, thanks for the reply m8, there is a sender you can use other than the svhs which i considered but the sender i have in mind connects in between the pc and monitor and is transmitted that way, i think the sender converts this to video signal to be received and displayed on a tv, and a wire is connected to the sound card and inputted to the sender.

this is what i was looking at on ebay: Item number: 330159216788

cheers jon

that looks a nice device and what I said earlier is still applicable.
The difference between this and the standard, in terms of function, is that this one sends the DESKTOP to the TV and that would include video & music.

I read your posting as just need the video/sound sent to a TV/HiFi

This offers the oppportunity to use your tv in any room to play on the pc in a remote desktop kind of mode. If you used a wireless keyboard & mouse you have an elegant way of having use of a PC in any room with a TV

It could actually be the basis of a whole house home theater system using LinuxMCE or MythTV or maybe even poxy MCE.

hi wobbly, yes m8 your right, in my haste to send the pictures around the house i never thought it would be the desktop ( what a wally lol) and yes i agree could this be the next in media entertainment? my laptop i want to use for the video sender only has the svhs connector to be honest i was thinking the quality of the vga was better than the svhs. i am gonna look at your recomendations of the Technika units. just out of intrest i did come across the fact these senders interfere or visavursa with the wifi g as i am pre n will it still interfere pre n / video sender?. and thanks for the info m8.
