Mountain Bike

Good comment.

Only problem is, sitting on the seat is like sitting on the blade edge of a machete (maybe my a*se is too boney!), any recommendations for a comfier ride.

Seats on a bike are very much a personal prefence. If you're going to do a fair bit of cycling then just bear with it for a while and see if you get used to it.
If you still need a new seat then best off with a gel one, but dont buy something too big (like a sofa) because they rub on your legs, and drive you crazy.

By the way, that bike seems excellent value at the price you paid, you would seriously struggle to do better at that price.

Your Arse will soon harden up, when you have done a few days riding !

I thought it was a good deal myself, Halfords were punting them at that price due to the new "viking" model beng introduced. Seen on another site you can blag a freebie into the bargain (I got light set).

Better keep my mouth shut about the sore a*rse though, people might take it the wrong way.

Thanks for the help guys, happy freeriding!

You choose a better bike, those other ones with rear suspension F UP at that price.
Have you adjusted your seat properly, what with a 22" frame you must be quiet tall I hope your not seating on that seat with full body weight, because that will hurt.
Remember when pedeling your leg closest to the floor must be almost fully extended with a slight bend at the knees. Which would mean having the seat post fairly high when sitting like this, this will trow some of your body weight through your arms on to the handle bars so your kind of propped up by the seat. Don't go to high because your hips will have to rock side to side & that will hurt. Get this seating position correct & you will lower the stress put on your knees.
Try this first & if you still have problems do get a seat, the guyz have mentioned good ones to go for, I also like selle italia seats with titanium rails.

Looks a good deal Knight.

I am also well impressed with my Carerra Vulcan.
I am glad I went for local store, as gears were a bit iffy (at shop just now). If I had bought online it would be a nightmare trying to sort it.

My seat was slightly low, therefore heightened a little, which certainly helps, cheers for that pointer.

One thing is for sure, I am a lazy old sod. I remember the days when I was a kid being out all day on the bmx, now I'm out for 10 mins and I'm exhausted!
