DBMG2 and Elvis

I have just bought an Elvis programmer and goldcard (PIC16F84+24LC16)from Cardman. Using Wolverine’s tutorial, which I followed to the letter (using autodetect to detect the blank card) I programmed my goldcard with the files ‘dbmg2.hex’ and ‘eeprom.hex’. I was not able to find comments to disable power up, watchdog and protection or to set oscillator to XT – are these for a different programmer? The card was recognised correctly and programmed up without any errors.

I placed it in my Nokia ST9850T STB (unregistered) and entered all 8 of June’s DBMG2 codes from Gazer’s site on a FTA channel. This didn’t work so, remembering that it was actually still May, I tried again, without success. On non-FTA channels the screen remains black when selected.

I have re-programmed the card several times and re-entered the codes, remembering to press ‘select’ only once after the last code. Still no joy!

I’m quite techie, but can’t work out why it doesn’t work – any advice would be gratefully received.

Check that you are switching the box to BBC1, turning the box off, then on again before you access the menu.

Also make sure that it says 'Change' parental code when you go in.

Now that **WAS** a fast response m8.

Forgot to say that I put it to BBC1, then to standby and inserted the card (chip side down), then turned it on. Selected 'change parental code' and entered the 8 sets of 4 digits. ;)

Got it sorted!!!!

Thanks m8 - looked around the site and found one from LandyMan which recomended pressing the red key twice instead of exit if using Elvis programmer.

Used May's code (isn't it June now?) and hey presto!

Thanks for you help - excellent site.

Going to watch some telly. :D

Yeah, you can start using June's codes now. Although in ten days or so you can start using July's :D lol
