Hi,

My denon AV receiver AVRX2300 has two hdmi outputs, this was one of the main reasons why I bought this AVR so I could connect my Projector diretly into the 2nd HDMI output without a splitter.
This hasn' worked out as I'm not getting any signal to the projector when I plug the HDMI cable in. I'm guessing it may have something to do with the length of the HDMI cable which is 10-15m long.
would a HDMI repeater/booster sorth this out?

I have this with my denon 2100, in the settings there is an option for pass through or something (I'll check when I finish work) the picture will only be displayed when the pass through is set for both moms and the avr is off. I don't know why

thanks for the reply rawsy. I'd appreciate if you can check that be good. When you say the AVR has to be off, I won't get any sound from my surround sound then?

Your on the borderline for HDMI cable at around 10-15m you should really think about exchanging this and using Cat6 with HDMI over ethernet this will solve the problem, you could always change your HDMI cable for something rated at either 24/28 awg but they are quite thick.

Pass Through on an A/V amp is purely so that what ever source is connected to the Amp can be passed through the HDMI Audio/Video without the need for the AV amp being switched on ideal if you just want to use the TV speakers instead of the full 5.1/7.1 surround. This wont fix your problem

Ok this is how mine is set up and when switched off the Cbl/sat input is displayed out of both outputs. The only when switched on the amp will display the output that is selected apart from when arc audio is used and in that case nothing will be output apart from the speakers. Could this be what is causing the issue?

Hi Rawsy,

Thanks for the picture mate. I tried this setting but unfortunatley it's not working :Mad2: . I don't understand why it works through the 2 output Hdmi splitter which is conntected to the amp. But when the HDMI is plugged in directly from the projector it dosen't work. Oh well I will have to stick with the splitter. I don't really want to start running Cables across the living room.

It's surprising that it works for you with a splitter but not directly from the receiver. I'm trying to get a longer HDMI run to work as well. I may give the HDMI over Cat6 as mentioned above a try.

if the 2 way HDMI splitter is powered then its receiving a 'Boost' from this and not getting enough power from the HDMI out port on the AV receiver

this makes sense as the splitter is powered. Looks like i will have to change the HDMI cable to the projector as the connector is bent, it's not even working through splitter anymore. Shall i just run two cat 6 cables to the projector using the hdmi to etherner adaptor like below or should I go with something that is powered?

The maximum hdmi length i use is 10 meters// anything above that i use the best cat cable i can find//ie cat 6 like digi247 mentioned above...on all matrix systems i install i use cat 6 atm.

2 way decent powered splitters should work ok on 10 meter hdmi cables tho if they are decent quality..are they 10 or 15 meter lengths...not clear in your post mate...

cat 6 is available at a better cost then long HDMI cables anyway..
