Hi.

I think I need a new AV rack as all my kit in my current media rack is overheating in paticular the AV receiver which switches off when it get too hot and it does get really hot.

I also been leaving the cabinet door open but still no good.

Anyone recommend me any decent av/ console racks which complements a living room and not a I.T hub room. Pictures of your own set up will also help :eater: .

I've been looking at getting a tv stand but some of them are too wide as I only have 800mm (wide) to play with.

Here my current setup -

AV Receiver
Blueray player
CCTV DVR
PS4
External wireless hardrive
Virgin Modem
ethernet Switcher
SKY + HD BOX
Nintendo wi

just put in some glass shelves custom cut for that space will cost about £10 to £15 each
and you can route all cable up the back behind a bit of mdf painted the same colour as wall

Hi Mate,

That sounds like a great idea. will look into that, cheap aswell.

thanks

or buy some laptop coolers for under the devices but the problem you have is all the heat is trapped in the cabinet

i did think of that but the cabinet is too small now as my equipment has grown over the past three years. I think shelving maybe the best bet for that space as you mentioned. Or the other option i was thinking is stick an av rack in the space with some built in cooling fans and box the rack eitherside with plasterboard. The other day i put my hand ontop of the receiver when it switched off by itself and no lie after 5 seconds i had to move my hand away.

Heat rises. Maybe you could make some decorative ventilation holes at the top? May attract a doily though.

extractor fan I'm sure you can get a USB powered version fit it at top of cabinet and plug into sky box that should have usb power even in standby

You need very quiet fans at the top and vent grills at the bottom so the air can circulate through the rack.

But AV receivers do get hot mate

Hi all,

I bought myself some of these badboys, hopefully they will keep the cabinet nice and cool.

AC Infinity AIRPLATE T7, Quiet Cooling Fan System with Thermostat Control, for Home Theater AV Cabinets

I've bought two of the T7 versions ( twin fans) and a single fan version all hooked up to the temp controller.

I was thinking of installing both of the twin fans ( T7's) on either side of the cabinet where the AVR is (bottom shelf) , one set for intake the other for extract of air.

The single fan I purchased I was thinking of installing it at back of the cabinet in the center.

Are my thoughts on fan placement ok or do you think the fans should be placed somewhere else, I only have once chance at this , I don't really want To **** it up lol.

I'm also going to cut out vent holes on the bottom shelf of the cabinet where the Avr sits.

Here my cappy sketch on where i'm thinking of installing the fans below.

thanks for the link napster, I did look at these but the only downside to this was I would have to keep manually switching the fans on and off. My misses and kids will keep forgetting to turn these on.

I Managed to sort out the cooling issue in my AV cabinet today. I would highly recommend these to anyone who has similar issues.
