My 7 year old onkyo amp has decided to stop working. In fact that's a lie sound is working but non of the HDMI sockets seems to working.

Cables are fine and direct connections to TV work so it looks like the output hdmi connection is fault.

Bought a new Yamaha but now when I press my sky remote TV comes on but remains on standby!

Anyone have a suggested fix?

have you tried a different hdmi lead to the tv? sounds like it could of gone faulty if both amps have issue

There are three possible issues I can see: the sky remote may need to be re-programmed to control the Yamaha amp, the Yamaha amp may not be controllable from the Sky Remote, or last and most likely the hdmi control from the tv to the Yamaha amp is not communicating correctly.

Check all HDMI-CEC settings in TV, SKY BOX & AMP.

Seems to be a common fault for onkyo amps I can either replace all the caps or buy another faulty one from ebay for parts.

With my yamaha amp its super annoying checked all the settings but I am sure its not working how its meant to. If I press the sky button box comes on tv comes and amp comes on but no sound. Then I have to turn amp off and on again but this turns the tv off again!

All the cables are fine, new 2.2 HDMIs onkyo amp just worked all the time despite being 7 years old. Might be a firmware issue?

Most likely the caps as suggested by Bally,I replaced mine on my 606 when the HDMI stopped working

Maybe a suggestion, I have an onkyo box htx22-hdx and I use the arc out of tv to box. I lost all audio but optical worked fine. Tried new hdmi cables but no joy. Turnes out the tv needed a hard reboot.

I think I will leave it as it is for now and stick with yamaha avr and carry out a hard reboot on TV as thinking about it HDMI-CEC does have address which might still assigned to the onkyo amp.

Gave that a try my serial number didn't bring up any results.
