I did a bit of googling and after pressing the menu button I tried shining a torch into the screen and I can just about see the faded writing in the back ground
So I take it the inverter arrived today and no dice?
As for the quote I've added of yours... If you have no picture, but the TV is staying on, what is obviously missing? Light.
I've checked over the converter kit you've linked to, never used one mate, but in theory, I don't see why it wouldn't work, again all you are needing at this point is to emit a visible picture screen by the eye, if correct and you want to proceed, google: CCFL to LED Backlight or similar keywords, as I'm sure there's lot of videos and sure your already all over it All will be helpful to help make up for your mind to whether you want to go down that route.
Chookey is right though mate, you will need to strip the screen and position/install the new leds evenly and in the best possible place, to emit the right amount of light, to show a decent picture, as for it being unsafe fook knows, but I'm sure it's been done many times before, I would just make sure I know where I am connecting that converter pcb board to original parts already in the TV, to draw the power before purchasing, but as for the rest, all I can see is that your a true hobbyist mate and that is exactly what this forum was about, threads like these bring DWs hobbiness back. Love it!
Good luck mate whatever you decided!
