Hi guys ,anyone any ideas my dads tv isn't kicking in with the hdmi when connected to his new sat box ,it's going to the boot screen then cutting off and he has no picture ,it's an older toshiba hdtv could it be a problem with it being a new box ?.

Have you tried to couple an X box or a dvd player to the tv to eliminate your lead being faulty or your tv without the sat box on.
Sky HD box works fine ,new box works fine upstairs on bedrooms tv ,I'm thinking the older tv is HD ready and 720p or similar and Ive set the box up for 1080i or p maybe that's the conflict ,just need to figure out how to change its in the box
You've hit the nail on the head there. Older sets (even ones labelled 'HD-ready) can't cope with 1080. If you connect up with a scart cable (or a/v cables) you'll be able to get into the settings menu & change it to 720.
