Ive been reading but I do prefer to read comments from normal users

Do you own or seen a friends curved TV ? is it a gimmick or does it really add to your viewing experience ?

:) whats your comments

I dont own one but have either setup and or Wall mounted the Samsung Curved 4K variety, Personally though i am not a fan and think this is another shall we say 3D fad that will probably last a couple of years and then go back to flat.

If i was in the Market for a 4K upgrade it would be a Samsung Flat screen not too keen on the curved models

I have a Samsung Curved TV, it is a brilliant picture, not sure if it's any better or worse than the equivalent flat screen, it does seem to stop a lot of glare we used to get from the sun

I am over the moon with mine mate, can add or txt you some pictures if it helps ?

I was looking :)but will be a few months away yet
seems Samsung don't do flat screen now in Series 8/9, all curve

brings back memories when i used to build them

when they pushed wide screen tv was the biggie as they said was natural vision

now its curved as natural as your eyes are

lot of hype i think

but not seen curved tv as yet

Here's mine, as I said not sure if it's better or worse than a flat but I am more than happy with it :)

After doing a little bit more research it appears that the idea behind the Curved screen is to give a perception of depth to panoramic images on screen sort of a 3D type effect without the glasses, some sets use image processing to amplify the effect even further but this can have an adverse affect on panning and very fast moving shots.

The other downside is the viewing angle is more limited compared to a flat screen and for best results you have to sit inside a certain degree axis.

I would say if your going to purchase get one online where you could try it for a few days and then send it back if you dont like it

Could do with some advice as Im one of these the more I look the more I confuse and overload myself

Im really not that fussed either way with curved tbh if its a good deal then Id have it if not such a deal I'll stick with flat

SAMSUNG UE55HU8500 55 inch Curved 4K Ultra HD 3D LED Smart TV Freeview HD freesat HD £1699.95

or do you know of something just as good cheaper ?

Thanks

@Rat Going on the 2 Samsung's you linked you may as well go for the flat if your not fussed mate, save £200 :)

As I've said the curve is brilliant but I'm sure the flat will be the same, I would say Samsung have the best screens at the moment for that price

I've had a few LG's in the past and they are not quite the same, you can really see the difference when you put them side by side

Also Samsung are the Only brand at the moment that can display the 4K UHD demo channel on 28.2° east so buy the samsung and amaze ball your friends with a repeating demo channel LOL

If the curve is better spec and worth the £200 then all good but if the spec is the same then I dont think that justifies extra cash

:)

Just an update on my Samsung experience

Ive had nothing but problems with this particular TV

first one that came both top corners were damaged so sent it back

second one that came was fine but after about 3/4 months after a firmware update went into a firmware reboot loop and I had to disconnect the connect box to come out of it, this resulted in a new main board being fitted

The tv then slowly over the last 6 weeks or so shows the lights down each side of the tv very bright, on some colours you can see each individual light
samsung came to repair with a new screen but where the screen must have been modified the screw holes at the bottom never lined up so the back cover didn't fit correctly

Samsung called me and offered me a new TV, upgrade or a full refund

after a bit of toing and froing with Richer Sounds I decided on a refund

Tbh the TV itself picture and feature wise is fantastic so I just found it and brought it again (fool I dont know ?)

But I know Im over £700 better off from what I paid last year lol Result

Hats off to Samsung Customer care i had the same problem around 6 years ago when Samsung released there first top of the range 3D 63" plasma i loved the set but from reports on AVforums from amny other owners it appeared that it had a faulty HDMI board installed on a few sets and even with anew board the problem could not be fixed so i was informed from them we try and fix 3 times if the fault is still apparent then we offer a replacement or upgrade or a full refund.

I took the full refund as at the time 3D was fairy new and the set cost me £2500, i ended up with a newer model slightly smaller at 60" but five years later it is still going strong with no dead pixels and the picture in HD is still as good as ever.

@Rat not sure what size screen you got but i can tell you if you nip over to AVforums and have a browse there is a thread on the type of screen used in the sets and country of manufacture etc.. from all accounts the bigger screen you go the better chance of it being a more premium product. And less prone to problems

I have the ue55js8500 @digi247
Tbh Samsung have been fantastic :) the niggles have been with richer sounds

I'm presuming the new tv ordered will be the modified version so all problems have been ironed out
The tv is great picture quality is excellent imo

Samsung ks range for 2016 dosent include 3d
Now I know some will say it was a fad but when you have invested money in glasses, bluray and 3d discs etc it's a feature i would like to keep

I brought the UE65KS9000T yesterday afternoon not had a chance to get it out the box yet. But I must admit I am looking forward to setting it up I already have 2 50" 3d tvs so wasn't bothered it wasn't 3d as never realy us it anyway but have use of other tvs if needed.

Sorry @Rat no idea on the newer Samsungs from memory most AV users only wanted the Hours time for Plasma TV's due to there technology, i think most now who have LED,LCD,OLED dont really bother about the hours usage due to the technology used on the screens

flat flat flat

curved Tvs are dropping prices like crazy, most people dont like it. It looks ugly when mounted on the wall and will not give you a curved sensation, unless you are sitting very close and we are talking about a 75+ in screen. otherwise it is just useless
