My LG TV https://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/av-home-cinema-5/254349-lg-42le8900-tv-review.html#post1881240 has started to play up, last week it would not switch on – if I explain.
Normally switching on is a phishh followed by the LG logo and the time, then the channel tunes. As far as I can remember there was no logo/time the small light came on indicating it was on but no picture just a black screen, switched it on and off a few times it came back on.
Yesterday same thing but it would not display anything, left it on (small light illuminated) for about an hour switched off then on, back to normal displaying channels.
After a bit googling it could be the capacitors, I have a 5 year warranty, I’m just into year 4 I’ve not phoned them yet as its back on. Was hoping it was goosed altogether so I could get a new set but don’t think that would make it uneconomical to repair.
Anyone any more ideas what it could be?

Do you have sound, mine done the same and i had to buy a new one also shine a light in screen when it happens again if you can see images in background its one of the boards inside, but i would send it back you might get a new one

Thanks for that @casuk I will certainly check that out, It hasn't happened again (not switching on) YET, I’m starting to doubt it is the capacitors although it is taking progressively longer to switch on and off, which is quite normal afaik.
What else would cause this? Any TV engineers/knowledgeable people care to speculate?

had the same problem with an lg tv, blown capacitors on power board, lasted 6 months after renewing them, then another board blew, out of warranty so ended in bin.

An update to the above, the TV lasted over xmas without any problems, in early February the same thing happened (not switching on) so rang to book a repair, the warranty is with richer sounds they asked if we had a spare TV to use, we didn’t, was told to ask for a loan set when their repairer called. The repairer came out the next day and the TV worked as normal when I tried to show them the fault! They took it away to test for faults leaving a loan set.
Brought it back 3 days later saying they could not find any faults after extensive testing. Plugged it back in lo and behold it would NOT switch on, took it away and found a problem with the main board, ordered one but was told a few days later they were no longer available.
NEW TV ;-) after a little negotiation they offered me the equivalent price of the latest top of range 42” LG set (which my old TV was when I bought it) to choose a new set. I put £300 and got this LG 49UB850V | 49 inch 4K Ultra HD 3D LED Smart TV Freeview HD | Richer Sounds which I am very pleased with so far. I have got to recommend richer sounds 5 year warranty, not just because I got a new TV, the service was very good from start to finish.
