Is there any real difference between good value HDMI cables such as Audioquest Pearl and say the cinnamon to premium cables like the carbon?

Surely the cables are just digital and can't have as much an impact on conductivity?

I currently have the cable that came with my PS4 and was wondering if there will be any realistic, real world benefits of getting a more expensive cable.

I'd agree with nara. I've tried poundland cables and can't see any difference compared to my xbox and ps3 cable.
Then again, knowing Sony and MS there probably the same quailty lol.
I remember when hdmi came out and a few mates paid good money for the gold plated one's but I couldn't notice any difference compared to another but they'd swear there was a difference lol.
Suppose they had to say that considering the stupid money they'd spent.

Only thing to look for is build quality.I've had a few cheap 15m leads and the 'sparklies' were terrible.Got some clearance cables from a guy called 'Mark Grant Cables' and they've been great,no 'sparklies'!

Exactly digital means it either works or not. Expensive also doesn't mean quality!! I used to work for the sony center and the ixos leads they blagged on to people were crap. I opened one up to see what the big deal was and the soldering was crap.

Thanks everyone.

I was getting sucked in to the whole "expensive must be better" black hole, who knows where that could have ended up!!

Do the cheaper or even free cables cope with 3D too?

I heard you need fast cables for that, whatever that means?!?

A lot of people are under the misconception that you (always) get what you pay for. I've not noticed any difference in gold plated scarts as opposed to el cheapos. Mind you, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. :)

I read form a lot of A/V tests that anything under 10meter in lengh does not justify the price so a cheap 1.5m £3 lead will perform as good as a 1.5m £30 one.

If you where buying its worth getting one thats certified with Hi-Speed and Ethernet for future proofing although with the rate they change the specification on these leads i am awaiting 4K certified leads very soon

^^True,One of the 15M leads I bought wouldn't even transmit a 1080P picture,now switched to CAT6
