Hi Guys&gals....

Last week my parents moved house so i helped by unpluging the t.v and dvd/video combi to put in my car...yesterday a firm arrived to put up a new arieal on roof....when the guy tried to get the t.v working he was prompted by entering the pin number...the t.v was bought dec 2010 and my mum is sure she never entered a new pin.....the book says default pin is 0000 but this is'nt working she tried 1111 2222 and so on, also birthdays just in case she did change it when bought new....
The t,v is a Hitachi 42" L42VC04UB full HD 1080
Has anyone had this problem before and is there anything she can do before she goes to currys and no doubt they will charge a fortune to get it unlocked.....thanks in advance if someone can help.......kevin.

Cheers miggy for the link....i cant seem to find the model on the site? i'll go to my parents tomorrow and see if there is any more serial numbers on the t.v......i had a read on a service manual for a 37" lcd and it looks like they will have to do a factory reset to overide the pin problem but i'm not sure if this will cause more problems.....it may just have to go to currys after all and see if they can sort it out............kevin.

Worth a try kev is the tv under warranty? perhaps you could claim under that mate?. Keep us posted and good luck with it.

if you know how to do the factory reset then just do it after all its just a tv so its not going to do any harm apart from rest channels and picture setting .....not like deleting an entire hard drive where you would need to be worried , let us know how you get on

Hi M8,
Phoned my dad last night and told him to try factory reset but no joy, t.v is asking for pin number before the page to do it.......looks like a big bill from currrys......kevin.

isnt there a number to call for aftersales support? ....just a thought

press RECALL four times within five seconds. The PIN code will be cleared and you can enter a new PIN code

Panic over guys....my mum found the pin number wrote down in her address book....she forgot that she'd wrote it there and that she'd changed the pin.............thanks everyone for help......miggy cheers m8......great info Overide, i'll remember what you stated above for future reference in case my mum decides to put a new pin in and lose that one...lol.........kevin.
