hi guys..my kid has an ipod touch 3g 32Gig version...power button didnt work on it and after an update he did it was stuck in updating mode..so i thought simple ill change the power/volume ribbon as in this youtube video HERE..anyway i accidently have torn the power ribbon cable as you can see in the pics...i cant see this being repairable as it seems to be soldered on the board further down (2nd pic)...anyone know if this can be repaired or whats the part nmber for it?..kid is really gutted....

You could scrap the ribbon where the wires are on both sides and solder wires across to corresponding points .

suppose its possible . but its way to fine to solder, i suppose some specialist can do it but not me...

That looks a b*****d to solder m8 the way Starplus is suggesting, I'm pretty good with a solder iron but even I wouldn't tackle that, can you not buy a junked one cheaply off fleabay or somewhere and use the ribbon cable from that?

lol..yeah just been looking at some on ebay...got my eyr on a few, prefarably one with a broken digitizer...will jusy swap the digitizer over..

well guys i bought a 3rd gen ipod touch from ebay, it had the digitizer smashed, hence i couldnt use the digitizer, lcd was fine, it comes on , connects to itunes, restored to factory settings with latest ios...i replaced the cracked digitizer from my working ipod which had the ribbon damage as shown above....but the touch screen isnt responding, i cant slide to unlock...any ideas ?

Check connections , maybe connecter is not seated properly .

Done that....only 1 connection...seated firmly....weird that..might look on eBay for one...trouble is there ate so many sellers...anyone know of a reputable seller...?
