Hello all, i have a huge problem. After trying to upgrade my IOS it all went wrong. I had to restore my ipod but nothings working anymore, no reset no upgrade.... Just an image of a usb plug and the itunes logo in the screen. thats all.

Can anybody help me with this, i really like to fix my ipod for my little boy of 11, so he can play some games.

My ipod is original, and so is the software and it has never been jailbreaked.

Hope to get some help, thnx guys

Have you tried holding the power button and the select button togather for about 10secs so that it does a factory reset?

when i do that the apple logo comes up, and goed, then the usb-itunes logo comes up again :(

Have you connected to your pc so that it syncs with itunes?

did it already.
Now i am trying again, after plugging in it says it needs to recover. I press recover and update but it stops. Got an error that it cannot be recovered cause no connection can be made with the ipod software updateserver or temporarily unavailable.

I always get this message....

This is not a solution from me but from a different forum and if it works thanks go to them:Wave:

Open notepad as administrator, and direct yourself to:
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc
open the "Hosts" file:

note the "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" portion near the bottom. your hosts may be different, and if so, then look for that part specifically. the problem for me, lied within the fact that just before the "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" part, there originally was no hash(#) with the space like the rest of the hosts file. This was all I had to fix. After editing and then saving the hosts file in notepad. I restarted iTunes and the update went through without a hitch!

so if you do not see the hash and space before the "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" part, all you have to do is put the #, and then press tab! I hope this works for some of you guys! So just to be clear, that particular line in the file should look like:

# 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

Good luck.:D

WOWOWOWOWOWOW...thanx alot mahrkpat for bringing this solution from another forum over here! You really make my day. How such a small thing as a hashtag missing can bring so much frustration:) But after putting the # back, it works great, and my ipod is fully restored.

The only thing that was different was the ip number in front of the #. it wasnt 127.***** but it is # 17.112.176.11 gs.apple.com.

Is that a problem, or can i just leave it like this?

Once again thank you!
