I can't find a cheap display anywhere. They are all in the region of £200-300 even though the 4.7 iPhone 6 display is £40-50.

I can't understand this, eBay sellers are doing the repair for £160. And it is not the glass they are only replacing..

I will attempt the glass only repair but I'm trying to source a decent display at an affordable price. Is this not possible?

Have you called apple directly? My mate got his iPhone 6 screen replaced by Apple for £80,worth a call or go into Apple Store hope this helps, just checked apple website its £100 if you take it into store for repair

The display is expensive because of the lack of available stock from multiple vendors. This is usually the case when looking for a LCD for the newest model iPhone. No worries though, simply wait it out until the next iPhone model is released so that prices cut down or contact Apple for a repair which will cost $129 at most to fix using Apple OEM parts. When iPhone 5 was the newest device, screen costs hit as high as $250. Today, you are lucky enough to get an iPhone 5 screen for $50 or less.
