Hi,

Ive replaced the back and front of an iPhone 5c but I cant seem to get the home button working although the phone is locked (does it need to be unlocked in order to work? and when I say locked you have to put that numbers in on the front screen and the person who's phone it is I cant get hold of - because I have their phone :Biggrin2:)

Any suggestions what would be the problem? Or what to check?

Thanks

when you say cant get it working do you mean that when the phone is in standby/sleep mode , when you press home button nothing happens , or when it is awake with screen showing ie enter pin it wont do nothing

Hey,

Thanks for the reply - and its both. The phone is off so I hold down the power button to wake it up and it says enter pin, Im sure the home button is "supposed" to do something but its not responding. And as I said I cant get hold of the person asking them what the pin number is to get into the main screen to see if the home button works then.

Am I making sense? Thanks :)

does it also wake it up if you hold the home button , if it does then the home button is fine , not to sure if it does anything when the enter pin screen is there , sorry cant be more certain as don't have one of those phones to try

Nah it seems like its dead, looking at repairing videos it shows how its the screen\digitiser section which the home button relies on - would you say this is correct? Or could it be a faulty part on the back bit?

Cheers

Could be the Home button cable is worn/faulty and needs replaced.

or could be this which I just found searching through various sites

Have you checked that when you re assembled the phone you lined up the positioning of the dock connector correctly, a tiny bit off and it will cause the home button to not work.

How would you check this? I guess plug in the thunderpants connector and see if that works\charges? Bleddy battery has just died on the phone now so I'll guess I'll have to wait :)

I think it could be those little gold connectors which are connected to the dock connector "unit" just looking on eBay you can pick them up for a couple of quid so I'll try that.

This story just keeps getting better and better :)

So Im currently stuck with an iPhone 5c that wont charge, reading up on it it could be the 1610A1 Chip which is on the logic board. I reckon Ive got the skills to pay the bills and replace that chip but what Im worried about is if its not that chip and it fecks up the board. I know Im no better off as it doesn't work anyway but its a chicken and egg scenario.

Also if anyone has a spare logic board they can lend to test that would be wicked (I know a big ask but if you don't ask you don't get :))

Any thoughts? Cheers
