Last night I decided to update my iPhone 3G from 3.1.3 to 4.2.1, everything went well except that now my WiFi option is greyed out and I have no way to activate it. I've tried a system restore/network restore but it hasn't helped.

I did some Googling and found that it a pretty common fault and is only fixable by getting the soldering iron out and replacing something inside.

Does anyone know how to repair the Wifi on a iPhone 3G?

I might end up doing that mate.

Someone told me to put it in the freezer for 10 minutes, I did and it WORKED but only until it returned to room temperature then the Wifi went AWOL again.

iPhone Wi-Fi not working, fix - Apple Toolbox see symptom 1.
