That maybe the cost is parts, but it does not take into account the R&D and the marketing involved to actually get to a stage to produce it. Whilst the software and hardware a being designed technically the company are not making any money from the product. Its only when it comes to market they are able to recover those costs.

Apple are cashing in on their brand name with this phone. After all, it's an iphone 4 with a few upgrades, not a bright and shiny new phone as such. Samsung had much of the same technology out 7 months earlier at a cheaper price. And most argue the Samsung Galaxy SII is still a better phone (I for one )

Apple boast about their voice recognition technology, Siri, yet you ask it for a restaurant near you and it doesn't recognise UK destinations! And how many times will you use this function in public anyway?

Tech-wise, there's not much difference between the iphone 4s and the Samsung Galaxy SII, but for me, with the flexability to do what you want, price, and the larger, more vivid colour display, Samsung has won.

But the Apple "brand-junkies" will ensure the 4s will be the more successful.
