I have just got an iPhone 3G 16gb, and it's coming up with no sim.

It was on 4.1 with a passcode on it, couldn't wait for the seller to respond, so put it in dfu and upgraded to 4.2.1.

It had no wifi before, so thought it may have been a software issue.

The wifi is greyed out and for wifi adress it just says n/a.

I have tried it with a new antenna with no luck.

With the no sim, it keeps displaying no sim, even when I tried activating it, but I put the misses's sim in and registered it.

But now with my sim and her sim, it just comes up with *no sim*, if I tap the phone, it sometimes recognises the sim, but only 1 out of 20.

The pins on the sim reader don't look bent and none missing, it's really baffling me now.

Thanx in advance for any help.

There is a contact switch at the bottom of the sim tray slot that must break contact to tell the phone the sim tray is inserted
i would check that 1st :proud:
im assuming you had the front off to check the sim reader contacts

When you say front, how do you mean exactly?

I've had the screens off, that's about it.

I've had a look at the pins without taking the sim card reader front off.

I'll have a quick look now and see if it makes contact with what your saying.

If you was close by, I'd buy you a drink.

As it's got an aftermarket housing on, it needed the sim tray in it that came with it, I was trying it with a proper apple sim tray.

I fixed my mates 3gs was doing the same
sim in---no sim---sim in ---no sim
he had damaged his sim tray ever so slightly over that little metal switch

well at least thats 1 bit sorted i hope you fix the wifi :proud:
