iPhone Iphone help PLEASE

Hi, I was just about to try and unlock the Iphone that I have, I connected the phone to itunes to see what firmware was on the phone, all I get from itunes is ''The SIM card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported" (Orange sim) I don't have an o2 sim only Orange and Vodaphone, is there any other way to find out what firmware is on the phone as itunes wont let me do anything and all the phone will do is allow emergency calls??

Do I need to get hold of an O2 sim to do the unlocking and jailbreak??

or is there any other way around this problem.

download and run Blackrain if its 3.1.2
then read the iphone section

also check f/w

settings>general>about
 
Thanks Bod, but I don't know the firmware of the phone, when i switch it on all i get is to connect to itunes via usb or to use the phone for emergency call, when i try and connect to itunes via usb it's telling me that the sim is not supported (Orange) so i can't get into any settings of the phone. just wandered if there is any other way to find the firmware so i can run Blackra1n.

surely you can get hold of an o2 sim off someone mate?

if your from newcastle mate iv got an o2 sim brand new ya can have if you can come and collect!
 
Thanks Big-Hol, I wish I still liived up in the Toon but moved south years ago, I think I might have to go into an O2 shop tomorrow and see if I can get a PAYG sim from them, Itunes wont activate the phone without the O2 sim, not sure if this is normal with these iphones. Thanks for the offer though!!

no probs mate,do u not know anyone thats on o2 just to lend there card for abit till uv unlocked it or whatever, saves buying 1 if ya only need it for that!
 
hold on.....

we can tackle this without you going to o2... well we hope we can


Hold down power and home button for 20 - 30 secs - this will get the iphone into dfu mode..

once connected to your pc or mac itunes will pop up and say something (cant remember what) and bascailly will let you restore your phone..

it will download latest firmware and then install it on your phone..

once thats all done you will get the itunes symbol on your phone..

close itunes, and open blackra1n (download this from blackra1n.com)

click make it ra1n... let it do its business, once done you will have a jail broken iphone NOT UNLOCKED...

now connect to your wifi by going into settings.

click on the blackra1n logo on your phone and install cydia and snow

This will unlock your phone and also install cydia to do other things :)
 
:Clap: Thanks guys, I followed Exclusives steps and it worked perfectly, the phone is now unlocked and jail broken, what would I do with out this site, once again the kind people on here manage to sort my problems, Thank you so much, have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year. :Cheers:
