Apple has provided a way for owners of non-iOS and Mac devices to create an Apple ID for the first time, thereby allowing them to access iWork for iCloud on any Windows based on PC running the latest version of any web browser.

You can sign up for a free Apple ID by heading over to beta.icloud.com on your PC and clicking on the ‘Create one now’ button below the sign in box.

If you create an Apple ID without an Apple hardware, you will only get access to Pages, Numbers and Keynote with other iCloud options being unavailable for them.

By default though, Apple is only offering iCloud users with non-Apple hardware 1GB of free storage space compared to the 5GB it usually gives. Nonetheless, considering the fact that you can only use iWork for iCloud for creating and storing your documents, the 1GB of free storage space should be more than enough for almost everyone.

For now, the company is only allowing users to sign up through the beta version of its iCloud website, but it is probably only a matter of time before it rolls out the feature to the public version of the website as well.
